The Blanco FFA Chapter held its annual banquet for the 2020-2021 school year on Wednesday, May 5, at Twin Sisters Dance Hall. Around 140 FFA members, parents and guests enjoyed a wonderful evening of food, fellowship, and the celebration of all our students’ accomplishments from this year. All in attendance enjoyed a wonderful meal provided by Old 300 BBQ. Awards were presented to proficiency winners and the exhibitors of the year in the various livestock species.
The Blanco baseball team defeated Nixon-Smiley 2-0 in a best-of-three playoff series for the bi-district title last Friday. The Panthers won game one 5-1 and game two 3-0. The Panthers improve to 24-4 on the season and advance to the area round in the playoffs. The Mustangs finish the season 8-18-1. Zack Wisdom pitched for the win in game one.
The Blanco softball team fought to the end but dropped the best-of-three area round to Hallettsville to end its 2021 season. The Lady Panthers opened the series with a 5-4 win last Friday. The Brahma then rallied Saturday, winning 2-0 and 8-7. All three games were played at Marion High School.
Emilee LaRue competed in the discus at the UIL State Track and Field Championships at Mike Myer Stadium in Austin on May 6. LaRue placed sixth in state in Class 3A with a throw of 123- 1, breaking the Blanco High School record again for the third time this season.

Emilee LaRue will compete in the UIL State Championship Track and Field Meet Thursday, May 6. LaRue will throw the discus at 9:00 a.m. at the Mike Myer Stadium on the University of Texas campus. LaRue, a junior at BHS, won the discus event at the Region IV meet with a throw of 117-10.
The Blanco softball team defeated Luling with two run-rule wins last week to claim the bi-district championship. The first game of the best two-of-three game series was played at the Marion High School field April 28. The Lady Panthers led 9-1 in the fourth inning when the game was delayed for 30 minutes due to lightning.
The Blanco junior varsity softball team finished the season with a 10-2 overall record and a 4-1 district record. Blanco tied with Llano, but had one more win to give the Lady Panthers the title. The Blanco baseball team wrapped up its District 25-3A season Monday with a 22-4 win against the Comfort Bobcats. The victory clinched the district title for Blanco. The Panthers are 22-4 on the season and 7-1 in district play. Lago Vista finished second, followed by Llano in third. Comfort advances to the playoffs in fourth place. Conner Chase picked up the win against Comfort going three innings and striking out three.
