The Johnson City Eagles traveled to Dripping Springs Friday night to take on 25AAA District Champion Gateway College Prep. They lost the series in two games and ended their playoff run.
The Gators came into the series with a record of 19-2, and two previous wins over the Eagles in district play.
Class of 2017 Continue Bell-Ringing Tradition
This Friday night the community will gather to celebrate the graduation of the Class of 2017 in the LBJHS Gym. The ceremony – open to the public – begins at 7pm; doors open at 6pm. Floor seating is limited to the immediate family (parents, grandparents, siblings) of the graduates; accessible seating is also provided on the lowest row of the bleachers.
The district’s board of trustees met May 9, 2017, and named Richard Kolek as the lone finalist to take over the superintendent role for Johnson City ISD. Kolek has spent 24 years in education including teaching and administrative experience. He is currently the Deputy Superintendent for Taylor ISD, a title he has held for 5 years.

Three candidates ran for two seats on the Johnson City ISD School Board. According to results posted by election officials, Cristol Carbary Corpus and Randy Rutherford secured the two positions up for election with 294 votes and 265 votes respectively., Jeffrey DeLeon did not get re-election for his seat and secured 196 votes.
Rutherford has been on the School Board for six-years while Corpus is a new member to the board.

On May 8, 2017 the Johnson City ISD Board of Trustees celebrated Mr. David Shanley’s retirement as the Superintendent of Johnson City ISD.
The Board honored Mr. Shanley with a steak dinner prior to the meeting as well as a collector’s time piece to show their appreciation. During the meeting, Board President Shelly Wenmohs, read a resolution in support of Superintendent David Shanley’s years of service to Johnson City ISD.

JCISD to honor David Shanley with reception at LBJ High School
The community is invited to attend a come-and-go reception at LBJ High School from 4:30 to 6:30pm on Thursday, May 18th, 2017 to honor long-time JCISD Superintendent David Shanley. Shanley’s retirement brings to an end the longest tenure of any Superintendent in the district’s one hundred twenty-four year history.
The Lady Eagles soared into the final playoff spot in District 25AAA by defeating the Lady Warriors from Ingram Tom Moore 19-0 Friday night in Ingram.
The Lady Warriors looked like they would give the lady Eagles a game after one inning, neither team scored.
In the top half of the second inning the Lady Eagles sent 13 batters to the plate collecting five hits and four walks.
