The Junior High boys basketball teams hosted Blanco Monday night for their last home game of the season. The seventh and eighth B team started things off with an intense match up. Joey Smith, who scored a team high six points, led the team back from a deficit. Rafael Ramos also added one point off a free throw to tie things up.
Three more Eagles are headed to Camp Pendleton in San Diego after graduation. Cole Cowsert, Tony Medrano and Colt Kneese have joined the Marines and leave for San Diego shortly after they graduate.
Cole Cowsert, who graduates in December, will be the first of the three headed to bootcamp in February of 2018.
The Johnson City Eagles traveled to Comfort on Friday for the last regular season game. They returned home victorious, defeating the Bobcats for the first time since 1995 and guaranteeing a spot in the UIL State Football playoffs. Final score: Johnson City 42, Comfort 0.
The Eagles utilized their versatile offense, scoring both on the run and through the air.
The Johnson City School Board met on Nov. 13 to discuss possible changes to the grading period and calendar for the district. They also heard this year’s student snapshot and tended to routine business.

Kolek is working on a few calendar options for the 2018 school year taking into account possible changes due to Johnson City becoming a District of Innovation.
Kolek plans to take advantage of an earlier start date than what was previously required by the State of Texas.

Last week the Lady Eagles volleyball season came to an end with a loss to the Lady Cobras from Industrial High School in three sets to none. The Lady Eagles scored 15, 21 and 20 points to the Lady Cobras’ scores of 25.
The Lady Eagles finished the season with a school record number of wins of 31 surpassing last year’s record of 29.
Johnson City took on the state ranked Lexington Eagles for the last home game of the season. Johnson City held their ground, but Lexington proved to be too much, defeating JC with a final score of 14-41, Lexington.
Johnson City had a difficult time combatting the Lexington defense, gaining only 89 yards rushing and 108 yards passing.
Two of the hottest trends in fitness have found their way to Johnson City. Core Fitness is a locally owned fitness studio which opened in January 2017. They have added Tabata Bootcamp 101 and Pound to their fall lineup of fitness classes.
Led by certified instructor, Maddie McNett, Tabata Bootcamp 101 is a 6-week, small group program that combines High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) exercise with online nutritional guidance and support for behavioral change.
For the third consecutive year, the lady Eagles won the Bi-district Champion title and will move on to the Area playoff match. The lady Eagles traveled to Comfort, Texas, on Tuesday night to face Cole High School from San Antonio in the bi-district round of playoffs. They defeated the lady Cougars in four games scoring 25-13, 23-25, 25-18 and 25-19.
Hailey Fox had 41 point assists during Tuesday’s playoff match.
Playoff bound, lady Eagles closed the regular season with a win Tuesday night against the Lady Warriors from Ingram. They also defeated Gateway Preparatory school on Friday Oct. 20 on Senior night.

The varsity Eagles won the final home match of the season against the Gateway Gators in four sets on Friday.
