The Lady Eagles split home games over Spring Break losing to Florence in Johnson City and later beating Comfort on their home field. The Johnson City Lady Eagles found going tough during Spring Break. The Lady Eagles faced the Lady Buffaloes from Florence and ran into one of the best pitchers in their district.
Fine Arts Programs spotlighted at Evening of Fine Arts on Thursday, March 30th The award-winning Art, Music and Theatre programs at LBJ High School will be featured at the 6th Annual Evening of Fine Arts on Thursday, March 30th, 2017. The event begins with a Student Art Show at 6:30pm in the LBJHS Commons.
The Johnson City FFA chapter is off to an impressive start by placing high at several Career Development Events (CDEs) this year. The Wildlife Management CDE requires students to be knowledgeable of wildlife species and their habitat, range plants, fish and game laws, and outdoor safety. Team members include Grey Grote, Blake Jenkins, Kelan Painter, Westin Perrenoud, Brinley Portie, Cody Sprouse, Brett Sultemeier, Darren Sultemeier, and Colby Turner.
At the regular meeting on March 6, 2017 the Johnson City School Board opened communication between them and their Blanco County Appraisal (BCAD) Board Trustees. They also conducted regular business and appointed election judges for the May 6 election. agles opened district play Tuesday night with a huge victory over the Lady Vikings from Lago Vista. The Eagles traveled to Lago Vista and wasted no time in jumping out to a first inning 2-0 lead. Emily Matjeka tripled in the two runs. Lago Vista answered scoring one run in the bottom of the opening inning. Winter has come and gone and spring is here and with that note high school sports are in full swing. Five spring sports are under way now with each getting close to the beginning of district play. Baseball With swinging in mind baseball will be our first spring sport to be highlighted.
Eagles Tennis continues a tough season. They have taken to the court for three tennis events with the district meet in under a month. Battlin’ Billie Invitational Our Johnson City High School Eagle Tennis traveled to Fredericksburg on February 16 to compete in the 2017 Battlin’ Billie Invitational against nine area school loaded with serious tennis talent. Makayla Preston competed and was eliminated by Hondo and Kerrville Tivy in girls singles.
Lyndon B. Johnson High School celebrated the recent scholarship signing of Payton Scott to play collegiate baseball for The University of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico. Payton started playing baseball at the age of 5 and played in Little League through the age of 8. When he was 9 he started playing tournament travel ball and was playing baseball 9 months out of the year.
Six Lyndon B. Johnson High School art students won top awards at Art Scholastic Awards Over 300,000 students submitted work for the 2017 Scholastic Art Awards. Each year the Scholastic Awards are celebrated within their communities through local exhibitions and ceremonies such as the Fine Arts Evening at the LBJ High School. This year, six Lyndon B.
At the regular meeting for February, the Johnson City School Board began the process to find a new Superintendent. They also reviewed agreements and policies and campus reports. Superintendent Search The School board hear presentations from two superintendent search firms. First to speak was Jack Damron of Texas Association of School Board (TASB).
