Johnson City Police Department has submitted arrest warrants for two suspects after a traffic stop on Monday night, December 19th where Johnson City Police Officer, John Pedraza discovered drugs and drug paraphernalia which qualifies the suspects for second degree felonies.
According to a report from Johnson City Police Chief, Randy Holland, on December 19, 2016, Officer John Pedraza observed a Silver Chrysler Minivan with only one headlight traveling Northbound on Highway 281.
The Johnson City School Board held their last regular meeting for 2016 on Monday December 13. Pedernales Electric Cooperative hosted its second of two special meetings involving a complaint against Vice President of the Board of Directors, James Oakley. At the first meeting on November 30 the Board appointed a Complaint Committee to decide the course of action PEC would take. The Complaint Committee met again on December 7, 2016 to hear more public comments and discuss their decision with legal counsel.
The complaint originated from a comment Oakley made on Facebook on November 21.
The Johnson City Lady Eagles had a busy week, playing Cherokee on Tuesday and hosting the LBJ Invitational Tournament. The Lady Eagles won one and lost three last week.
Johnson City faced Cherokee Tuesday and lost a tough fought contest 41-47. The Eagles had the lead after three quarters 35-30, but Cherokee got red hot and scored 17 fourth quarter points compared to the Lady Eagles’ 6 points.
The Johnson City Eagles went 3-3 this past week and are getting better with each outing. The Eagles faced Cherokee Tuesday night and came away with a convincing 77-50 victory. The visiting Indians stayed close for one quarter, trailing the Eagles 12-13 after the 1st quarter. Johnson City caught fire in the second period scoring 30 points and took a 43-24 lead after one half.

Johnson City Future Farmers of America member, Cheyenne Henderson won the FFA Creed speaking contest in the Greenhand division at the Area VII Contest in Blanco on November 16.
She will compete in the preliminaries for the State contest in Huntsville on December 2 and hopefully the finals on December 3.
