The Varsity Lady Eagles earned the title of Bi-district champions and won their spot in the next round of playoffs after beating the Natalia Mustangs earlier this week. The match was won in three games 25-10, 27-25, 25-10, favoring Johnson City. The front row regulars were killing it Monday, October 31. Aleigh Wessels was the point leader with 11 kills, Skylar McKennis had eight kills and Bella Mae Swafford had six kills. Skylar McKennis led the team on the serving line, serving three aces.
A Johnson City resident was arrested by Blanco Police for armed robbery of a vehicle in the city of Blanco. His two passengers at the time were also arrested for other charges. On October 29 Blanco Police alerted Johnson City Police Chief, Randy Holland that Johnson City resident, Rojer Martinez Jr.
Voters in Blanco County will have slight variations on their ballots when they go to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout the county’s six precincts. “Voting turnout has been fairly high (in the past), but I have no idea what turnout will be on Election Day,” Blanco County Clerk Laura Walla said. The headliner on the ballot will be the presidential election.
A four-year-long investigation led to the arrest of Charles Sean Omalley, owner of Vintage Travelers Airstream Restoration, for several offenses in multiple states, including a Third Degree Felony charge of Theft by Deception in Johnson City. Johnson City Police Department began receiving complaints against Omalley in 2012 relating to Vintage Travelers Airstream Restoration located on US Hwy 281, north of the Pedernales River Bridge.
Johnson City, Texas – Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) announced it was recently awarded a $1 million grant from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service for habitat conservation planning assistance. A phone scam is targeting Johnson City residents, using local numbers to steal identifying information. On Tuesday October 18, 2016 a Johnson City woman reported a suspicious call to the Sheriff’s office. The woman reported that a man called her from a local number, stating he was with a law firm and needed to serve her legal paper.
The lady Eagles defended their winning streak on home court this week as they played Comfort High School on Friday, September 30, and against Lago Vista on Tuesday, October 4. The Varsity Volleyball team is ranked 11 in the Texas Girls’ Coaches Poll amongst 3A teams. Last Friday, Comfort was taken in three games.
The City Council had their regular meeting earlier this week to discuss growing pains in city utilities, updates to Johnson City’s fire hydrants and where to allocate outside funds for child and public interest. During the time for public comments and announcements Brian Vickers from the National Park Service announced an event being held at the Lyndon B.
A change of ownership has taken place at Johnson City’s Pecan Street Brewing as Tim and Patty Elliott have passed the keys to Don and Crystal Tamillo September 28, 2016. Another week, another win. Lady Eagles traveled two games in a row to face the Florence Buffalo and Gateway Prep Gators. Both matches were won decidedly in three games. Johnson City still holds their district ranking as well as individual stat rankings held by players. Friday, October 7, LBJ High School Volleyball teams traveled to Florence.
