The hometown of the man credited with bringing electricity to the area is teaming up with Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) to bring solar power to the area. PEC formally announced on February 27 they are partnering with the City of Johnson City to construct two one-megawatt solar facilities off of HWY 290 on City owned property. The Blanco County Commissioners held their regular court session on the morning Tuesday, February 28. Lyndon B. Johnson High School celebrated the recent scholarship signing of Payton Scott to play collegiate baseball for The University of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico. Payton started playing baseball at the age of 5 and played in Little League through the age of 8. When he was 9 he started playing tournament travel ball and was playing baseball 9 months out of the year.
Six Lyndon B. Johnson High School art students won top awards at Art Scholastic Awards Over 300,000 students submitted work for the 2017 Scholastic Art Awards. Kaitlyn Arvesen, Lyndon B. Johnson High School Senior, has a perfect record when it comes to the Texas All-State Band. For the fourth year in a row, she has advanced to the State level in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) band competition and earned a spot in the All-State Band.
