The Blanco Panther girl's cross country team endured cold, rain, and mud to place 5th at the State Cross Country Meet at Old Settler's Park in Round Rock on Saturday, November 7. Senior Bret Leigh Nance led the Panthers placing 22nd with a time of 12:53.13. Freshman Johanna Villarreal was 26th running the course in 13:00.53.
Several members of the Blanco FFA Chapter recently traveled to College Station to take part in the Texas A&M "Aggiefest" Invitational Leadership Development Events. Overall, more than 250 students competed in the events as more than 50 schools, 1A-6A, were represented. Blanco's Jr. Chapter Conducting team did very well placing 1st overall.
The Blanco Panthers' dominant play continued this past Thursday night as the Panthers defeated the visiting Poth Pirates in Blanco's final home game of the season to clinch the District 14AAA Division II Championship. While the Panther offense scored in every quarter, the defense continued its stellar play with their fifth shut-out of the season. Blanco took an early lead in the first quarter on a Chase Horton 7 yard run with 8:19 left in the quarter.
The Lady Panther volleyball team closed out the regular season on Tuesday, October 27 with a district win over the Florence Lady Buffalo, 3-0. Set scores were 25-13, 25-14, and 25-13. Malyn Valliant blasted 12 kills and 2 aces. Skylar Burns, Gracie Edmondson, and Brenna Wallace each hit 1 block.
The 8th grade Panther football team beat the Karnes City Badgers 23-0 on Thursday, October 22. Aaron Daniels kicked off for the Panthers to the Karnes City 35 yard line. Kanyan Braun and Gunnar Granberg made stops on the Badger's first offensive possession. On the third down play Braun recovered a KC fumble at the 40.
On Thursday, October 22 the 7th grade Panther football team soundly defeated the Karnes City Badgers, 44-0. Ozzy Tackett kicked off for Blanco to start the game. Kaileb Webster stopped the Badger on the return at the Karnes City 41. Jackson Cress made a tackle for a 6 yard loss in the KC backfield.
With an overwhelming victory over the visiting Karnes City Badgers this past Friday, the Blanco Panthers secured a play-off spot while improving to 8 and 0 on the season. The Panthers will look to sweep the district with remaining games against Poth and Natalia before starting the play-offs. The Panthers scored twice in the opening quarter of play as Aaron Uballe and Ryan Ronces crossed the goal line on runs of 12 and 7 yards respectively.
The Blanco Lady Panthers lost two district games this past week, falling to the Lago Vista Lady Vikings on Tuesday, October 20 in a 5 set battle, 2-3, and to the Jarrell Lady Cougars on Friday, October 23 in 3 sets, 0-3. Set scores against Lago Vista were 25-22, 20-25, 25-22, 18-25, and 12-15.
The Blanco Panther girls cross country team won the 3A Region 4 Cross Country Championship on Monday, October 26 at Texas A & M Corpus Christi. The Blanco team scored 57 points, followed by 2nd place finisher, Vanderbilt Industrial, with 146 points. Goliad was the 3rd place team with 165 points.
The Blanco FFA Chapter recently completed a busy fall judging schedule with teams competing in Land Evaluation, Homesite Evaluation, Plant ID and Range and Pasture Judging. Overall, more than 30 FFA members represented Blanco at competitions across Central Texas with all four teams doing extremely well. The Plant ID team would finish 1st overall at the Bexar County Invitational, the Comal-Guadalupe NRCS Invitational and the Blanco FFA Invitational in addition to winning the Hill District and Ar ...
