The Blanco Panthers improved to 7 and 0 on the season and 2 and 0 in district play with a dominant 39-0 win over the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs. The Panthers scored in every quarter, doing the most damage in the second with three touchdowns before the half. After a slow start, the Panther offense got rolling with 4 minutes left in the first quarter as QB Jordon Wagner fired a perfect strike to Justin Williams for a 47 yard TD.
The Blanco Lady Panther varsity volleyball team added two more district wins with 3-0 sweeps over the Comfort Deer on Tuesday, October 13 and the Ingram Lady Warriors on Friday, October 16. Set scores against Comfort were 25-18, 25-18, and 25-23. Malyn Valliant paced the team with 16 kills. Skylar Burns and Gracie Edmondson each knocked down 4 blocks.
On a beautiful Thursday evening in Blanco, The junior varsity Panther football team hosted the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs, defeating them 40-6 and improving their record to 7-0 and 2-0 in district play. Blanco won the coin toss and deferred to start the game, kicking off on the leg of Chris Osteguin. The Mustangs were met with a very tough Panther defense, led by Jake Mangold, Brandon Phipps, Chance Horton, and Peyton Van Dyke, as they went three plays followed by a punt.
After a week off to prepare for their district opener versus the Stockdale Brahmas, the Blanco Panthers won a hard fought homecoming game defeating Stockdale 33 – 7. The victory improves Blanco's record to 6 and 0 on the year, but more importantly, 1 and 0 in district play. The Panthers got off to a slow start as both teams were knotted at 0 following the first quarter.
The Panther junior varsity football team started District 14-3A play at the home of the Stockdale Brahmas with a 28-12 win. The Panthers started the game by kicking off to the Brahmas who were quickly met by Mario Sanchez and William Hourigan. The first two plays were stopped at the line by Chance Horton, Tristan Lopez, and Hourigan, with Brandon Phipps picking up a fumble on second down.
The Lady Panther volleyball team rested on Tuesday with an open date and then got a big win on Friday, October 9 over the Georgetown Gateway Gators, 3-2, with set scores 20-25, 25-17, 14-25, 28-26, and 15-11. Malyn Valliant fired in 23 kills, with Gracie Edmondson and Skylar Burns smashing 3 blocks each.
The Panther 8th grade football team outscored the Stockdale Brahmas 28-6 on Thursday, October 8. Alex Andrade gave the Panthers great field position covering the short Stockdale kickoff on the Blanco 44. Gunnar Granberg and Aaron Daniels combined on carries to move the ball to the Stockdale 41. Bowie Crofts ran for a 26 yard gain to the 15 yard line.
The Blanco 7th grade football team defeated the Stockdale Brahmas 24-8 on Thursday, October 8. Ty Adkinson covered the short kickoff on the Blanco 43 giving the Panthers excellent field position. Ozzy Tackett and Kaileb Webster alternated carrying the ball downfield. Tackett got the call for the final 4 yard run and the Blanco touchdown.
The Blanco Panther marching band performed superbly on Saturday, October 10 at the Region 12 University Interscholastic League Marching Contest at East Central High School in San Antonio. The band received Division 1 ratings from all three judges who described the show as, "a very energetic and musical performance". Bands advance to Area and State only every other year.
The Blanco Panthers continued their strong start to the 2015 season with an impressive win over visiting San Antonio Christian. The Panthers scored early and often to jump out to a 27-7 first quarter lead and never looked back as Blanco totaled season highs in almost every offensive category. Ryan Ronces got the first two TD's of the game on runs of 1 and 2 yards.
