The Panther baseball team played two district games on Saturday, April 23 at the Liberty Hill High School baseball field. Blanco fell to the Jarrell Cougars 5-7. Eddie Calzoncit picked up the loss in relief of Tyler LaRue, both giving up 7 runs on 6 hits and 6 walks. Ty Preiss, CJ Lovalvo, Luis Elizondo, and Jordon Wagner all had 2 hits.

On Tuesday, April 12 the Panther baseball team beat the Comfort Bobcats 9-2 in a District 25-AAA game. Tyler LaRue went the distance, going 7 innings giving up only 2 hits and striking out 3 to improve to 3-0 on the year. Eddie Calzoncit, CJ Lovalvo, Jordon Wagner, and LaRue all had 2 hits.
The Lady Panther softball team needed only 4 innings to defeat the Comfort Deer 19-4 on Tuesday, April 12. Andrea Calzoncit pitched the first 2 2/3 innings, facing 13 batters with 4 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strike outs. Taylor Boss pitched the final 1 1/3 innings of the game facing 5 batters with 1 hit and 2 strike outs.
Blanco’s track teams were in 7th Heaven at the conclusion of the District 25-AAA track meet last night in Lago Vista. The girls won their seventh district title in a row, dominat-ing the field by scoring 207 points and qualifying sixteen Panthers to the Area meet. Lago Vista was a distant second with 99 points. “I’m so proud of our girls’ performances at the district meet,” said girls coach Jane Karnes.
A large number of Blanco FFA and Jr. FFA members exhibited livestock at this year’s San Antonio Livestock Exposition with several qualifying for the premium sale. Headlining this year’s accomplishments by local students is Blanco Jr. FFA member Caleb Meyer, who exhibited the Grand Champion Doe in the Jr. Breeding Boer Goat Show.
The Lady Panther softball team beat the Ingram Lady Warriors 19-3 on Tuesday, April 5 and defeated the Georgetown Gateway Lady Gators 12-5 on Friday, April 8. Playing at the Ingram High School field, the Panthers went six innings with Andrea Calzoncit pitching five and Taylor Boss going one inning. Calzoncit faced 17 batters with one hit and four strike outs.
The Panther baseball team grabbed an 8-2 win over the Ingram Warriors on Tuesday, April 5. Tyler LaRue picked up the win in relief of Garrett Seales, going 3 innings of “no hit” ball. Eddie Calzoncit and LaRue had the big sticks for the night with each getting 2 hits and driving in 2 runs.
