The Johnson City Eagles had a good week, going 2-1 at the Hill Country Classic in Llano and defeating the Armadillos from San Saba.
The Eagles opened up the Hill Country Classic against San Angelo Central’s JV. The Eagles fell behind 4-0 after 1 inning, but would come alive in the second inning and score 6 runs to the Bobcats 1, making the score 6-5.
The Johnson City Eagles traveled to Comfort Thursday night and competed against much larger schools and showed that they can run, jump and throw with anyone.
The Varsity Boys finished 5th out of ten teams. The JV Team also finished 5th.
Winning individual medals were Blake Caulkins 3rd in the 100 meter dash.
The 7th and 8th grade girls competed in the Comfort Ribbon Relays last Friday, March 4th. These ladies all compete as an 8th grade team and did very well in their first track meet of the year. The WGA's year long Rockfest Event Series kicked off with a huge turnout for our two new teams - the Slick Chicks and the Ram Rockettes! We had 71 players, 40 Slick Chicks and 31 Ram Rockettes, finish 18 holes in record time for the WGA!! After golf everyone headed over to Brad's Bar at Slick Rock to hear the results of the day and enjoy a cold beverage with the drink tickets that are provided on Rockfest Play Days.
The MGA "Riverboat Gambler" Par-3 tournament was held on Ram Rock on Saturday, and 87 players (an event record) had a rare opportunity to shoot some amazing scores on the hardest course in the Horseshoe Bay rotation, as all of the holes had been shortened to between 60 and 155 yards.
Shirley Ann Hanson (nei Leyk) of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, passed away at her home, on Sunday, March 6, 2016. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 64 years, LeRoy M. Hanson. Her surviving family members include sons Dale and Steve, daughters Linda, Laura, Nancy and June; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Beginning with one Oompah band on a flat-bed trailer sixteen years ago the festival has become an annual tradition in Tomball and one of the best music/street festivals in Texas. Every year, on the very last weekend in March, festival-goers break out their Lederhosen and Dirndls "Go German" for the area's largest festival celebrating the heritage of the original German families that settled this area beginning in about 1840.
Grab your cowboy hat and sun bonnet and head for City Park in Bandera!

There’s gonna be Mayhem on the Medina River! Scheduled for April 9th &10th. Gonna be a gunfight! That’s right! It’s the 3rd Annual Mayhem on the Medina, a competition with the National Reenactment Guild of America. Bandera has never turned down an opportunity to show off our cowboys! This time it is a bit different.
