Debbie Slangal has always loved all things Texas. Her grandparents on both sides were here in the Republic of Texas days! She grew up in the Lake Buchanan area, went to school in Llano, then on to UT and became an RN where she worked in surgery in San Antonio.

At Tuesday’s Horseshoe Bay City Council meeting, Elise Reid presented a petition with over 300 signatures of HSB residents asking the council to “stop the cruelty” of its current practice of trapping, transporting and killing deer and find a more humane, effective form of wildlife management. “We are better than this as a community,” Reid told the council.

Meals on Wheels wants to know if there is a need to expand its senior nutrition program delivery to Horseshoe Bay and nearby neighborhoods in Llano County. Horseshoe Bay resident Karen Jones said if there are enough people who would use Meals on Wheels to warrant establishment of a local Meals on Wheels program, then efforts will be made to bring this life enhancing service to HSB and surrounding communities such as Oak Ridge, Blue Lake, Deerhaven and Sandy Harbor.
