Eagles Play in Hill Country Classic in Llano

The Johnson City Eagles had a good week, going 2-1 at the Hill Country Classic in Llano and defeating the Armadillos from San Saba.

The Eagles opened up the Hill Country Classic against San Angelo Central’s JV. The Eagles fell behind 4-0 after 1 inning, but would come alive in the second inning and score 6 runs to the Bobcats 1, making the score 6-5. The Eagles would allow one more run in the 4th inning, but would answer with 2 runs in the 5th inning and hold on to claim a 8-6 victory. Gage Schnitz went 2 for 4 at the plate, Nick Nolte had a triple and Stephan Barrentes had a double.

The Eagles faced the Texans from Wimberley next and fell to the Texans 16-1. The Eagles lead 1-0 after 1 inning. Wimberley would score in every inning after that. Wade North was 1 for 3 and scored the Eagles only run. Wells Deleon and Kyle Porter each had a double.

Lampasas was up next for the Eagles, and the Badgers would give the Eagles a good test. The Badgers would lead 2-1 after 1 inning and go up 3-1 after 3 innings. Johnson City had a big 4th inning scoring 4 runs and taking the lead 4-3. The Eagle bats would stay hot, scoring 7 runs in the next two innings. Lampasas would score 4 in the sixth closing the gap, but Johnson City would hold on for the 12-7 win. Nick Nolte was 3 for 3 and scored 3 runs. Deak Odiorne was 2 for 3 and Stephan Barrentes was 3 for 4. Wells Deleon had a double.

The Eagles traveled to San Saba Monday night and beat the rain and the Dillos. Johnson City jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 1 inning and added another 5 in the third. The Eagle defense was outstanding and only allowed 1 run through 5 innings. The Eagles added another run in the sixth, but the Dillos scored 4 runs and made the score Eagles 10 Dillos 5. Johnson City scored 2 more runs in the top of the last inning and held San Saba to a run. Johnson City would claim a 12-6 victory. Gage Schnitz lead Eagle hitters with a homerun and Payton Scott had a double.
