Joy Laverne Lockhart Kuhn Eastman was born in Llano, Texas to John and Izella Lockhart, on June 23,1936. She was one of 11 children. She walked to school in Lone Grove and chopped cedar from a young age. She married early and had five children. Two of the children died young.
Nitajean (Nita) Cunningham, age 77 of Kingsland, Texas joined her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 9, 2017 surrounded by family, holding her husband’s hand of 58 years. She was born June 9, 1939 in Atlanta, Texas to Charles Lonzo Ashby and Juanita O’Rear Ashby and was the oldest of five children. Thomas Edgar Baker, 73, of Horseshoe Bay. Texas died Tuesday, April 4, 2017. He was born on July 19, 1943 in Lubbock, Texas to W.G. and Betty Baker. After graduating from Monterey High School and Texas Tech University he spent many years in the Odessa area as a practicing CPA then later moved to the hill country. Anita Bess (Jackson) Caraway passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 1, at Gateway Assisted Living in Marble Falls, Texas. She had been a resident of Llano for 33 years after moving from Brownfield. Mrs. Gordon Landers, nee Marjorie Marie Moss Landers of Llano, Texas passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in Austin at the age of 87. She was born May 18, 1929 in Llano, the daughter of Stephen Boyce Moss, Jr. and Alberta Bird Moss. She married Gordon Melvin Landers June 18, 1949 in Lampasas.
Ned Bower Little, 75, of Cherokee, Texas was born on May 25, 1941. He passed away in an automobile accident on March 28, 2017 near Fredericksburg, Texas. He was born and raised in Jefferson, North Carolina, the son of Mont and Ruby Little. He was a resident of Texas for 41 years. Ned was an entrepreneurial by heart and owned and operated Texas Spa Covers Inc.
Ardis Virginia Patterson passed away March 21, 2017 in Llano, Texas at the age of 83. She was born on April 28, 1933 in Cannon Falls, Minnesota to Carl Sorensen and Ruby (Banks). Ardis was a resident of Llano for more than 40 years since coming from Burnet, and was the previous owner of the Gingerbread House. Ardis is preceded in death by her parents, Carl Sorenson and Ruby Sorenson; and brother, Connie Sorenson. She is survived by her lifelong partner, Fred Shaffer; sons, John D.
Myrtle M. Kimbrough Hazelwood, 89, of Highland Haven, Texas passed away on March 17, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born to Lonnie D. and Bessie (Austin) Moore on February 3, 1928 in Wilson, Texas in Lynn County. Myrtle graduated from Tahoka High School in Tahoka, and graduated from Scoggins Beauty Academy in Abilene.
Louis “Tomper” Fitzjerald, of Llano, Texas, passed peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the age of 82. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his son Alfred Louis Fitzjerald. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon, his grandchildren, and his many great grandchildren. The family has chosen to have a small private burial service.
Norman Harry Grenwelge passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 in Fredericksburg, at the age of 95. Norman was born on October 8, 1921 at the family homestead to Rudolph Grenwelge and Augusta Bessie May (Bauer). Norman attended school in Castell, Texas and graduated in 1939 from Llano High School. During World War II he served in the Army for a year. He was a rancher all of his life raising Duroc hogs and later polled Hereford cattle.
