Joy Laverne Lockhart Kuhn Eastman was born in Llano, Texas to John and Izella Lockhart, on June 23,1936. She was one of 11 children. She walked to school in Lone Grove and chopped cedar from a young age. She married early and had five children. Two of the children died young.
