Mrs. Duery Menzies ne LaWanda Dawn Osbourn of Fredericksburg, Texas passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 in the Main Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 75 years. She was born March 10, 1941 in Llano, Texas the daughter of Clarence Osbourn and Clytie Larrimore Osbourn, obtained Bachelor’s degree from Abilene Christian College, married Max Duery Menzies on May 11, 1968 in Llano, Texas, worked as Extension Home Economist in Tom Green, Taylor and Gillespie Counties, follow ...
Barbara Nelle Kuhlman Thompson, age 92, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2017, at Windcrest Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Fredericksburg, Texas, where she had resided for a year. Barbara was born in Amarillo, Texas, on January 13, 1925, to Howard Philip and Vivian Farmer Kuhlman. She also lived in Shamrock, Texas, and both Toledo and Cleveland, Ohio, as a child.
Former Llano resident, Joann Talbert Jones Dees, 86, died in San Antonio, February 2, 2017 after a short illness. She was born April 5, 1930 in Taft, Texas and graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown with a degree in music education. She married Matt Dees Jr. of Llano in 1954 and their four children were born in Llano. She taught piano and directed the choir at the Lutie Watkins Memorial United Methodist Church until Mr.
Marshall Wilson passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017 in Fredericksburg, at the age of 78. He was born April 27, 1938 in Austin, to Monroe Wilson and Amelia (Delz). Marshall was a resident of Fredericksburg for 20 years since coming from Llano. Marshall is preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Amelia Wilson; brother, Raymond Wilson; sisters, Lola Ashby, Ardell Lackey, Ona Marie Gellermann, Vera Kneese, and Nina Belle Johnson. Susan Sally Lumpkin, 70, of Tow, passed away on Jan. 29, 2017. She was born to John and Maisie Kirk on Nov. 13, 1946 in Canada. Susan was a fragrance sales rep and also an airline hostess. Dennis Keith Harden, 66, of Llano, passed away Feb. 1, 2017. He was born to Billy and Winona Valentine (Smith) Harden on May 28, 1950 in San Angelo. Mr. Harden was a paint contractor by trade, a competitive horseshoe player, a hunter and fisherman, and loved sitting around a campfire. He is survived by his son, William Harden of Llano, and sister, Bonnie Raines of Llano.
Jacey Leigh Smathers was born in Austin on Jan. 12, 1995 and passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017 at the age of 22. She lived in Stephenville while attending Tarleton State University pursuing a degree in nursing. While attending Tarleton State University, she always found time to ride her horses, do a little barrel racing, rope calves and of course hang with the love of her life, Cody.
Joe Allen Shearer was born Sunday, June 11, 1944 at American Fort, Utah and passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 31, at his daughter’s home in Louisville, Kentucky. Joe is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Bernice Rhea Bryant Shearer of Kingsland, who passed away Aug. 31, 2016; his brother, Monte Alfred Shearer of Houston; mother, Virginia Jane Shearer of Sunray; and father, Arthur Lee Shearer of New Mexico. Gary Wayne Nicholas went by many names, Husband, Dad, Father, Bear, Pawpaw, Papa Gary, Pops, Friend, Amigo, and Compadre. He was an incredible man who touched so many lives. He was a man’s man who raised a horde of children and grandchildren with unconditional love. Gary liked to take part in community and to help others.
Merlin Davis passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017 in Llano at the age of 78. He was born March 25, 1938 in Llano, to John Oliver Davis and Grace (Moore). Merlin was a lifetime resident of Llano. He and his wife Bernadette Moseley were married Oct. 8, 1973 in Llano. He was self-employed as a rancher and was of the Baptist faith.
