Desmond A. Sagebiel was born December 13, 1918, the sixth child of Alfred and Selma Sagebiel at their home in Eckert, Texas. He attended the community school, Mt. Nebo School at Eckert, founded by his father. At the age of 12, in 1931, he entered the ranching business with the acquisition of a heifer calf.
Carolyn Joyce Meyers passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in Austin, at the age of 79. She was born November 27, 1937 in Medina, to Clarence Wallace Turner and Edna Eleanora (Sprott). Carolyn was a resident of Llano for 46 years, after moving from Seminole. She was a LVN with Llano Memorial Hospital, from which she retired. Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Wallace Turner and Edna Turner; her sister, Lucille Garrett; and husband, James A.
Louis “Tomper” Fitzjerald, of Llano, Texas, passed peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the age of 82. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his son Alfred Louis Fitzjerald. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon, his grandchildren, and his many great grandchildren. The family has chosen to have a small private burial service.
Norman Harry Grenwelge passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 in Fredericksburg, at the age of 95. Norman was born on October 8, 1921 at the family homestead to Rudolph Grenwelge and Augusta Bessie May (Bauer). Norman attended school in Castell, Texas and graduated in 1939 from Llano High School. During World War II he served in the Army for a year. He was a rancher all of his life raising Duroc hogs and later polled Hereford cattle. Natalie Koop Crawford, 87, formerly of Edna, went to be with her Lord and her family, on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017. She was born on Friday, July 19, 1929 in Edna to George Koop and Caroline Cline Koop. She was one of 11 children, six girls and five boys blessed to this family. Natalie married the love of her life, James “Dale” Crawford on Friday, Oct.
Joan L. Oestreich passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 in Round Rock at the age of 81. She was born June 6, 1935 in San Saba, to James Hilton Key and Josie (Allen). Joan was a lifetime resident of Llano, and attended the First Baptist Church of Llano. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, James Hilton Key and Josie Key; son, Gary Lynn Oestreich; sisters, Imagene Cook and Ada Ruth Mallett; brother, Thomas Key Franklin; and great grandson, John Xavier Myers. Willard L. Hatfield passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 in Llano, Texas at the age of 79. He was born Feb. 23, 1938 in Norman, Oklahoma to Earnest Edward Hatfield and Nila (Ortilla). Willard was a resident of Llano for over 20 years. He served in the Army, obtained a degree from The University of Oklahoma, and previously owned and operated Hatfield Disposal. Jerry Simpson Graves passed away on “Valentine’s Day”, February 14, 2017 in Blanco, Texas at the age of 84. She was born April 25, 1932 in Brady, Texas to Sam Houston Simpson of Field Creek, Texas and Carrie Vonn (Bozarth) of Llano, Texas. Jerry was a resident of Blanco, Texas for two years and was a former resident of Llano, Pyote, and San Saba, Texas.
Spencer “Spence” DeWitt Tanksley, 70, of Bertram, Texas, passed away on February 17, 2017 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Round Rock. Born in Burnet on June 1, 1946 to Dr. T.D. Tanksley, Jr. and Margaret (McAndrew) Tanksley, Spencer spent his early childhood in Llano. There he made lifelong friends whom he considered family before moving to Bryan where he graduated from Stephen F.
