Frances Margaret Hische Merritt, 84, of St. Francisville, Louisiana, died Feb. 7, 2018 after a long and fruitful life. Born Sept. 8, 1933 in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Harry L. Hische and Grace Obaugh Hische, Frances and her sister Nan moved around as children but considered Galveston, where they graduated from Ball High School, as their home. Not long after graduation, Frances married Warren Franklin ‘Skeeter’ Merritt Jr.
Robert Michael Whitaker born Dec. 7, 1990 to Timmy Whitaker, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018. Robert always had a smile on his face. He never met a stranger and had no enemies. Robert would light up a room when he walked in. Robert loved a lot of things including drawing, coloring, horses, Santa Claus, scary movies, music and dancing.
Doraine Shirley Parks died March 26, 2018, in Lakeway. She spent her final days surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service in remembrance and celebration of her life was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, at Kingsland Community Church in Kingsland, with a graveside service which followed at 4:30 p.m.
Patricia Gay Arburthnot, 79, of Winnsboro, went home to be with the Lord the morning of March 20, 2018. Gay was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, George “Doc’” Arburthnot; her parents Herman and Ivera Rogers; her brothers, Bill Rogers and Roger Rogers; and sisters Shirley “Sister” Ashabranner and Karen Powell. She is survived by her sister Cynthia Decker, her brothers Mike Rogers and Scott Rogers, and her six children: Glen Williams of Llano, Sheila Fender of Sulphur Sprin ...
Joe Neal Sawyer, World War II veteran, died at his home in Blanco, on Sunday, March 25, 2018. Mr. Sawyer was born on Jan. 6, 1924 in Cherokee, to Ethel (Mayes) and William Claude Sawyer. He was a graduate of Cherokee High School and after graduation, entered the U.S. Army serving in the medical corps.
Roy Rudolph Grenwelge, born Jan. 2, 1938 to Bessie and Rudolph Grenwelge, and died March 13, 2018. Roy was a graduate of Llano High School and Texas Lutheran College. He retired from Republic National Bank after 25 years and MBNA after 10 years, doing what he loved as a rancher and raised cattle. Gladys Jo Florence, 91, passed away at home to her eternal hope in Christ on March 14, 2018. Jo was born in Roberts Community, Haskell County, on Nov. 12, 1926 to Charles and Audie Jo (Penton) King. Her family moved to Lubbock in her high school years. While attending Texas Tech she met her husband, Charles Florence.
William Asher Richardson III passed away at his home in Llano on Friday, March 16, surrounded by his wife and kids. He was an exceptional man and will be deeply missed. Born in Corpus Christi on Sept. 2, 1955, he was the son of William Asher Richardson Jr. and Eloise McMahon Richardson, who have preceded him in passing.
Virginia “Frances” Tway Massey passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at home in Kingsland, at the age of 78. She was born on Sept. 22, 1939 in Heth, Arkansas to Oda Tway and Florinda Newman Tway. Frances was very talented. She was an excellent artist, seamstress, gardener, and loved to knit and crochet.
Dr. Martin Vernon Atchison, 97, of Llano, passed away Friday March 9, 2018. By the grace of God and his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior he now resides in Heaven, his eternal home. Martin Vernon Atchison was born Sept. 28, 1920 in Harlingen. He graduated from Harlingen High School, attended the University of Texas at Austin, and in December 1944, graduated in the second class of Southwestern Medical College in Dallas. On Sept.
