On Tuesday, Feb. 6, two Llano High School freshmen competed at the annual district Cross-Examination Debate meet. Bailey McCorkendale and James Edmonson have been debating as a team since September and were the “long-shot” in this competition. Most of their opponents were upper-classmen who had successfully completed rigorous weeks of summer debate camps, yet the McCorkendale-Edmonson team managed to win rounds and earn themselves a fifth place title.

The city council unanimously voted Monday to authorize City Manager Scott Edmonson to hire an acting police chief who will also have the authority to conduct investigations within the police department. The council passed the motion after a brief closed session.
