The Lady Eagles traveled to Florence last Monday to close out the regular season and came away with victories in three of four matches. The 7th Grade C team won Set 1 (25-17), but dropped the next two sets (13-25, 9-15). Megan Smith was leading server followed by Laurel Gatlin, Katie Hacker, Hannah Roy and Rebecca Shugart.
The LBJMS 7th Grade A team swept through the District 25-3A Volleyball Tournament without dropping a set on Saturday at Lago Vista. JC opened up with a two set victory against Jarrell B team in the first round. A semi-final victory against Gateway (2-0) brought on a showdown with the host Lady Vikings of Lago Vista in the Championship.
Eagle running back Ryan Shipley scored three touchdowns to give the Eagles a 21-0 lead at Brady before the Bulldogs found the end zone in the JC JV’s second district win without a loss. The Eagle defense created turnovers and stifled the Brady offense throughout the evening. Cade Boyer threw two touchdowns - connecting on a first half bomb to Shipley and finding Grayson Jacobs open for the Eagles lone second half score.

The LBJMS Lady Eagles closed out the 2019 season in style as they proved to be the dominant Middle School program in District 25-3A. Last Thursday the Lady Eagles swept Blanco in all four matches at home. The 7th Grade B team won in two sets (25-18, 25-7). Ashley Barrera, Alea Spells, Aleah Malone, Jaycee Debusk, and Jacelyn Unger all had outstanding service games.
The Johnson City Eagles Varsity was unable to shake off the district-opening loss at Comfort and fell to Brady 53-3 on their home field on Friday. The stifling Brady defense held the Eagles to 157 yards and one field goal while their offense racked up 53 points. Wyatt Tumlinson’s 37-yarder was the lone score for JC. “This was disappointing - our worst performance this season,” according to Head Coach David T Sine.
The LBJMS Lady Eagles hosted the Jarrell Lady Cougars last Monday night with mixed results. The 7th Grade C team had the first match and charged out to a 25-23 first set victory. Jarrell answered with a vengeance taking the next two sets 25-7, 25-7 for the win. Despite the score the Lady Eagles showed a strong service game from Katie Hacker, Hanna Roy, Megan Smith, Laurel Gatlin, and Destenee Huertez.
JCISD Board of Trustees held a Regular Meeting on October 7. Board President Shelly Wenmohs called the meeting to order at 6 p.m., and all trustees were present.

The Johnson City Cross Country teams made a strong showing at the District 25-3A Meet in Jarrell on Monday, winning two individual District Championships and qualifying one team and one individual to Regionals. Lydia White made a statement in her freshman debut by winning the Varsity Girls Division with a 13:09.
The Varsity Lady Eagles made the most of their open date last Tuesday and charged back into action with a three set (25-16, 25-21, 25-12) victory over Lago Vista on Friday night. With the win the Lady Eagles maintain sole possession of the lead in District 25-3A as they make their way through the second and final round of district play.
The JV Football opened district with a 26-14 home victory over Comfort on Thursday. Cade Boyer setup two touchdowns on the ground and threw for another. Ryan Shipley was the beneficiary of Boyer’s rushes scoring on two short running plays and had an 85-yard reception for the score. Dakota Metcalf recovered a Bobcat fumble in the end zone for the Eagles final points.
Hayden Fox and Cristian Hernandez made big plays in the backfield to lead the Eagle defense.
