Despite drawing first blood taking a 7-0 lead at Comfort on Friday night the Varsity Eagles were unable to contain a potent Bobcat offense for the duration of the game. Cash Pearce had the lone touchdown for JC and Wyatt Tumlinson tacked on the PAT before Comfort caught fire with 28 unanswered points for the win.
By Julie Storer The LBJ High School and LBJ Middle School teams competed in the midweek Mason Invitational last Wednesday - their final warm-up before the October 14th District 25-3A Meet in Jarrell. Freshman Lydia White was the lone top ten Varsity finisher with her 13:21 earning her 7th place in the Varsity Girls’ Division.
By Julie Storer The Varsity Eagle Football team will take the momentum of a 38-7 win against Florence and the extra preparation from an open week into their District 13-3A opener at Comfort this Friday night. The Bobcats (3-2) are coming off of a 47-27 victory against Grand Oaks. The Lady Eagles wrapped up the first round of district play with the Lady Panthers of Blanco to take sole possession of the lead in a tough District 25-3A.  The Freshmen girls started things off with a 3-set (22-25, 25-21, 25-15) victory winning back-to-back sets after dropping the first.  The JV Lady Eagles fought hard in their 3-set match (23-25, 25-21, 19-25), but fell short of the victory.
The 8th Grade A team raised their record to 6-0 and the 8th grade B team fell to 4-1 after matches against Lago Vista last Monday evening. The B team fell to Lago Vista in two sets (21-25, 15-25) giving them their first loss of the season. Unforced errors plagued the Lady Eagles keeping them from establishing their rhythm in either set.
Eagles sweep Homecoming Week
The Eagle Field stands were full with fans lining the fences to witness the 38-7 drubbing of Florence which broke the drought for the Varsity Eagles on Homecoming 2019. The Eagles found the endzone on the first possession of the game – an eight-play drive topped by an 11-yard run by Quarterback Logan Ledger (SR).
By Julie Storer The Lady Eagle Varsity Cross Country team made a strong showing in a preview of the UIL State Championship course at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock on Saturday, placing 7th of twenty-seven teams in the 3A-2A-1A Division of the McNeil Invitational. Freshman Lydia White completed the 3200 Meter course in 14:39 for 15th Place.
The Lady Eagle 7th Grade C team tipped off another sweep in Hyatt Gym with with a two-set (25-16, 25-16) victory against Manor New Tech. Megan Smith, Hanna Roy, Laurel Gatlin and Katie Hacker were strong from the service area as they combined for a total of 30 points off serves.
The LBJHS Volleyball teams did their part in the perfect week for JC teams as they notched victories against District 25-3A opponents IDEA-Montopolis and Florence. With the Freshmen open last Tuesday due to the lack of an IDEA team to play, the JV and Varsity made it a short night winning in straight sets.
The JV Eagle Football team traveled to Florence on Thursday and brought home their first victory – a 13-0 decision over the Buffaloes. Ryan Shipley (FR) caught a touchdown pass from Grayson Jacobs (SO), and Freshman Tyler Lorenz scored on a run play behind the blocking of Cristian Hernandez (SO) and Grant Gale (FR) for the Eagles.
