The LBJ High School Varsity Eagles are settling in to the new system of first-year Head Coach Drew Baker, putting up bigger point totals on offense and using their quickness to overcome a lack of size in an aggressive half-court defense. Still seeking their first District 25-3A win, the Eagles have played close to their last three opponents, including a 60-44 home loss to IDEA-Montopolis on Friday in which they held an early eight-point lead and entered the final period trialing by six.
JCISD Board President Shelly Wenmohs called the Regular Board Meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. on January 13. All Board Trustees were present. Board Appreciation Month JCISD Superintendent Richard Kolek opened the meeting with the observance of School Board Appreciation Month. Kolek said, “JCISD joins 1,025 other Districts in Texas to celebrate January as School Board Recognition Month.
By Julie Storer The JV Lady Eagles raised their District 25-3A record to 4-2 as they notched decisive victories over Austin Achieve and Florence last week. A balanced offensive attack and strong defense that created offense were keys to the victories, with seven players scoring in the 49-2 drubbing of Austin Achieve on Tuesday and eight pitching in as they rolled over Florence on Friday 46-13.
By Julie Storer The Lady Eagle Varsity dropped to 1-3 in District with a 59-21 loss to the Blanco Lady Panthers last Tuesday. The visiting Panthers had three players in double figures as they raised their record to 4-1 in District 25-3A competition. “We played better defensively in the first half and kept their lead to 15,” said Coach Cori Baker.
The Lady Eagles Varsity led from start to finish after jumping to an early 9-2 lead in their first District 25-3A victory on Friday at Manor New Tech. “We struggled offensively in the 2nd and 3rd quarters,” said Head Coach Corine Baker, “but down the stretch we made some key shots and free throws.
In 2016 Eagle Athletic Director/Head Football Coach David T. Sine– then leader of the Sonora Bronco program– traveled to South Carolina to spend time with Clemson Tiger Head Coach Dabo Swinney and his staff observing how the championship coach went beyond X’s and O’s to build his nationally-ranked football program.

Four Eagles and four Lady Eagles were selected to the 2019 Academic All-State Teams in their respective sports, led by Lady Eagle Kalli Dalland who was also named to the All-State Volleyball Team in a rare double honor. Dalland, who recently signed a Letter of Intent to continue her academic and Volleyball career at Lubbock Christian University, was the leading hitter and blocker for the District and Bi-District Champion Lady Eagles.

The Eagle Varsity Boys played solid defense and Mason Roberts poured in 25 points to open District 25-3A play with a 57-47 road win at IDEA Montopolis last Tuesday. “I thought we played with great poise offensively - good ball movement and we attacked the rim,” said first-year Head Coach Andrew Baker.
