CarBaret, Hye Rum Distillery, and Schumann Cattle Ranch presents a Hill Country Drive-In Music and Movie Experience on Fri. July 24th & Sat. July 25th. Pablo Crawford, 2019 graduate of LBJ High School, graduated from The United States Army Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri on June 25th. His parents watched a livestream of the ceremony from their home in Johnson City, but were prohibited from attending due to COVID-19 - related restrictions. Pablo served as Guidon Bearer of his unit for outstanding performance in the 2-mile run completing the test carrying a fifty pound pack with the top time of 12:20.00.
Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Blanco County continue to increase, as do cases across the state of Texas.
Numbers released Tuesday morning by the Blanco County Department of Emergency Management showed the county with 51 active COVID-19 cases, an increase of 18 since the morning of June 30. There are 60 cases under investigation, up one case in the same time frame.
Drought conditions in the western Plains and early drying across the state have led to an increase in wildfire activity and an early start to the summer wildfire season.
Most of the state is trending three to four weeks ahead of typical early summer drying, and the rainfall outlook over the next six weeks is not anticipated to be enough to reverse this trend.

“Now that COVID numbers are going back up a lot of places are scaling back on reopening plans, and the Fair and Rodeo were cancelled.
The Science Mill has reopened to visitors, carefully following the latest Phase 3 state guidelines for reopening and CDC recommendations for public health and safety.
To space out visitors and allow plenty of room for social distancing, the Science Mill is now open six days a week, with two entry times (10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm) Tuesday through Saturday, and from 12-4pm on Sunday.

On Friday, Johnson City Bank honored long-time employee Brenda Haynes for 50 years of service to the bank. According to Executive Vice President Shannon Sultemeier, “Friday was Brenda’s Day. The celebration went really well and we had a big lunch for her.”
The celebration was a surprise for Brenda, which was no easy task to achieve.
