After a four-and-one-half month break from the gym the LBJ High School Lady Eagles showed up in record numbers Monday morning for the start of the 2020 Volleyball season. Thirty-one athletes - 11 freshman, 11 sophomores, 6 juniors and 3 seniors - hit the track at Eagle Field in the early morning to take advantage of a break in the heat for the conditioning portion of their two-a-day workouts.

A second death attributed to COVID-19 in Blanco County has been announced.
A woman in her 70s, who lived in the Johnson City zip code, died of the disease, the Blanco County Office of Emergency Management announced late last week. “She was exposed to COVID-19 and subsequently developed symptoms,” BCOEM reported.
The special meeting of the Blanco County Commissioners Court was called to order at by Judge Brett Bray. Commissioners Tommy Weir, Emil Ray Uecker, Chris Liesmann, and Paul Granberg were all present.
Masks were worn and social distancing took place. The meeting was simulcasted live online at the “Blanco County” YouTube channel.

Cicero A. Rust III, a resident of Blanco, has given a gift of $25,000 in support of the Bobcats to Bobcats Scholarship Campaign at Texas State University.
The funds will provide scholarships to students impacted by unforeseen hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic to help ensure they can return to their studies.
In April of last year, the Tocker Foundation awarded the Johnson City Library a $50,000 grant for new furnishings. Fast forward to now, and the library has had a total facelift. In order to be eligible, the whole library needed to be remodeled at the same time.
We had just completed the Hancher grant that upgraded the adult computer area and created the new Community Education Room.

Active COVID-19 cases in Blanco County have increased by 20 in the last week.
The county now has 89 active cases of the virus as of Tuesday morning, up from 69 a week ago, according to numbers released by the Blanco County Office of Emergency Management.
Active cases jumped by 38 during the past three weeks.
Shelly Wenmohs was acknowledged as the new part-time auditor for Blanco County during the Blanco County Commissioners Court meeting on July 14. On Tuesday, July 21, Judge Brett Bray swore Wenmohs into office. She will serve the remainder of the two year term effective July 1 and ending Oct. 1, 2021.
Wenmohs graduated from Texas A&M University in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
A small spillage incident from drilling on the Permian Highway Pipeline in Gillespie County on Saturday did not result in any water pollution, according to the Texas Railroad Commission.
