On the evening of Friday, May 31 hundreds of onlookers in a packed Panther Stadium watched the Blanco High School Class of 2019 cross the stage and receive their diplomas. Eliminate Bishop Badgers 2-0 in Regional Final Series After Delay
It took three days, that included three road trips to the Jourdanton High School baseball stadium, sixteen innings, and a high school graduation mixed in the middle, for the Panthers to clinch the Region IV Conference 3A Championship against the Bishop Badgers. The Blanco baseball team continued their playoff path with a Regional Semi-final win against the Banquete Bulldogs this past weekend. In the best two-of-three series Blanco won 2-0. Playing at the Jourdanton High School baseball field Friday, May 24, Blanco run-ruled the Bulldogs 12-2 in six innings. Saturday, May 25 the Panthers won 12-3. AJ Briscoe pitched the distance Friday, going six innings, striking out seven and scattering five hits.
The Education Foundation hosted nearly 200 people for a fiesta-themed Top 10 Banquet held at Carriage Hills Ranch Wednesday, May 22. This is the second year the Foundation has hosted the event. It started out a little chilly, but turned out to be a great day for the Blanco Project Graduation Bass Tournament on Lake LBJ. We had 14 teams this year, with 10 limits of 5 “keepers” caught. First place went to David Hesskew and Nick Pastuberry with 25.04 lbs. Second place went to Larry Smith and Ken Evertte with 22.32 lbs.
For the past nine years, students from Blanco Ballet and Creative Dance School have been showcasing their deep love of dance and joy of expression through annual recitals, where they are able to present the results of the year’s work to their parents, friends and community at large. This year’s performance was a balletic rendition of J.M.
The class of 1959 held its 60th class reunion on April 13th in the fellowship hall of the Methodist Church. A delicious BBQ meal was catered by The Old 300 BBQ Special guests were Ada Cooley and Florine Lord, the class’s original room mothers (pictured below). Counting spouses and a son and a granddaughter, there was a total of 19 in attendance.
