The Education Foundation hosted nearly 200 people for a fiesta-themed Top 10 Banquet held at Carriage Hills Ranch Wednesday, May 22. This is the second year the Foundation has hosted the event.
With school board members in attendance along with Education Foundation members, the BHS Class of 2019’s Top 10 students and their teachers who most significantly influenced were honored while their families cheered them on.
Carl Struck, the President of the Education Foundation played the part of Masters of Ceremonies for the evening. He began the evening with a short history and the mission of the foundation.
“We started our Founder’s Drive in August of 2018 and just two days ago,” Struck said, “and with the generous support of our founders, we awarded eight grants totaling just over $15,000 across all three campuses of Blanco ISD.”
Founding members, organizations and companies were recognized at the banquet.
After a short invocation by Blanco ISD School Board member Larry Kuebel, dinner was served by foundation members.
Blanco High School Principal Keitha St. Clair was the guest speaker of the evening, and she spoke words of wisdom to the students by providing a list of things that “really matter” such as loving one’s self, making time for fun and being full of gratitude.
“Make sure the first breath you take in the morning is full of gratitude,” St. Clair said, “and also make sure the last thought you have before falling asleep is also full of thanks.”
Superintendent Clay Rosenbaum introduced each student of the BHS Top 10 by providing a short bio and their college and career plans.
Once the students were introduced by Rosenbaum, the students in turn, introduced their teacher that had the most influence of them during their primary school career.
The student’s speeches all varied; some were sentimental while others were funny, but the consensus theme of the students was having some to talk to had made all the difference in their lives.
The banquet was concluded with thanks given by Struck on behalf of the foundation to everyone that made the banquet and the foundation possible.
