The Blanco girls cross country team qualified for the Region IV Meet with a third place finish at the District 25-3A Meet Monday, Oct. 14 at Jarrell High School.
Sophomore Ella West finished the 3200 meter distance 15th with a time of 15:15. West had this to say about the team advancing, “I’m so proud of our team and what we have achieved.
For the first time in Blanco Youth Football history all three teams not only made the semifinals, but all three won their games and are in the championship.
Blanco Freshmen defeated Lago Vista 27-6, Blanco JV defeated Junction 16-0 and Blanco Varsity defeated Kingsland 30-20 to advance.
The championships will be held at Panther Stadium on Saturday, Oct.
The Lady Panthers added two District 25-3A wins to their record with a 3-1 victory against the Jarrell Lady Cougars Friday, Oct. 18 and a 3-0 shutout over the Manor New Tech Lady Titans Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Blanco beat the Cougars with set scores 25-15, 28-26, 21-25, 25-19. Winning the second set was a necessity for the Panthers, and they fought through the long set to hold on to the momentum.
District rival Comfort showed up Friday, Oct. 18 to take on the Blanco Panthers in a battle for league bragging rights. It was all Bobcats early as they jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead. Blanco battled back and a late comeback was just short as the Bobcats held on for a 24-21 win over the Panthers.
The captains for Blanco were Walton Daves, Marshal Symons, Brandt Wagner and Josh Hogan.

Cool temps, high school football, and Homecoming was the formula for the Panthers to dominate the Friday night game in Blanco Oct. 11 against the visiting Broncos from Sonora. Captains for the night were Marshal Symons, Kody Kohnen, Jonathan Gonzalez and Austin Van Pelt. The Broncos won the toss and deferred possession to the second half.
Deonte Hector received the opening kickoff and returned it for a short gain, as Baylor Smith led the offense onto the field.
The Lady Panthers improved their District 25 3-A record to 9-1 with a 3-0 win against the IDEA Montopolis Bulldogs Tuesday, Oct. 8. Set scores were 25-14, 25-10, 25-12.
Presley Young led the team with seven kills, followed closely, by Kora Brock and Emma Srackangast with five kills each. Olivia Atchley hit four kills, with Raylee Faris and Hannah Griffin each making three.

The Blanco varsity girls cross country team finished eighth at the Lampasas meet held Friday, Oct. 4.
Ella West led the team with a time of 14:11. Lauren Anderson finished at 14:36, while Carlie Waxler had a time of 14:57.
For the varsity boys, Cole Meyer led the way with a time of 19:10.
In the JV girls race, Riley Edmondson paced Blanco with a time of 16:40.
The cross country teams are off this week.
