Two Blanco girls powerlifters qualified for the regional meet. Both Kiley Elrod and Emily Windham will compete at regionals for the Lady Panthers.
Blanco ended the regular season with all six lifters finishing the year with their best totals and placed third out of eight teams. A team is made up of 12 lifters, thus making their third place finish even more impressive.
Elrod and Windham led the way by finishing first in their respective weight classes.
On a cold night just before travel became impossible in Texas, the Blanco girls basketball team stormed into the Floresville gym last Friday and rolled to a 49-22 win against Nixon-Smiley.
The Lady Panthers improved to 17-6 overall with the win and advanced to the area round of the playoffs.

The Blanco boys basketball team wrapped up its regular season with a 78-43 win over Comfort to claim the District 25-3A title with an unbeaten 9-0 league mark.
Blanco, 20-1 overall, will face Stockdale, the fourth place finisher in District 26-3A, in the bi-district round of playoffs.
“We have had an amazing season with a great group of hard-working kids,” said Blanco coach Juston Weldon.
The Blanco Panthers varsity baseball team took on the Texas Military Institute (TMI) Panthers Tuesday, Feb. 9, in a scrimmage. The Blanco junior varsity team hosted Harper on the same day.
Blanco boys basketball coach Juston Weldon hit a milestone Tuesday, Feb. 2 with a 71-51 victory against the Lago Vista Vikings. The win was his 100th at Blanco High School in only four years. “It has been a wonderful ride during my four years here in Blanco coaching basketball. One hundred wins is very special to me, however, I could not have done this without the kids here in Blanco,” he said.
Harley Hensley, a member of the Blanco Panther band, has been selected to the 2021 Association of Texas Small School Bands All-State Band.
The ATSSB includes Class 1A through Class 4A schools. Hensley was chosen for this prestigious honor in highly competitive auditions held across the state at region and area levels.
The Blanco powerlifting teams have claimed several top finishes in recent meets at the Texas Strength Systems Gym in San Antonio.
Jackson Cress and Daniel Jaimes each finished in first place Monday, Jan. 28. Jaimes lifted a total of 1180 pounds and Cress lifted a combined 1095 pounds. Deonte Hector placed second in his weight class.
Jacob Gallas, a Blanco junior, placed second in the Ingram High School golf tournament played at the Schreiner Golf Course in Kerrville Monday, Feb. 1. He shot a 3-over, 73 for the round. Gallas also took second Monday, Feb.8, at the Llano Golf Invitational at the Lighthouse Golf Course in Llano.
The Blanco boys basketball team added two more wins in District 25-3A competition this past week.
The Panthers defeated the Lago Vista Vikings, 71-51, Tuesday, Feb. 2, marking the 100th win for head coach Juston Weldon. The Panthers outscored the Llano Yellow Jackets, 82-41, Friday, Feb. 5. Blanco has an overall 19-1 record and an 8-0 district record.
The game against the Vikings was close in the first half.
The Blanco girls varsity basketball team dropped a heartbreaker by two points, 41-39, to the Lago Vista Lady Viking Tuesday, Feb. 2. The Lady Panthers finished second in the district after the tough defeat.
The game against Lago Vista was the deciding match-up to determine the leader in District 25-3A. The Lady Panthers won their final district game, 59-35, against the Llano Lady Jackets Friday, Feb.
