Our Mason High School Cowgirls track & field team competed in the District 27 AA Track & Field Meet in San Saba on Thursday, April 4. Our Varsity Cowgirls team scored over 150 points, and came in 2nd overall behind San Saba. We have 15 qualifiers who have advanced on to the area meet qualifying in 14 of the 17 events.
The Texas Girls Coaches Association selects All-State teams in basketball for conferences 1A through 6A. Selections are made by the TGCA All-State Committee at their annual meeting during the UIL State Basketball Tournament from nominations submitted by TGCA member coaches. The Committee members are selected by their peers during the regional meetings at Summer Clinic in July each year.
The Mason Punchers traveled to San Saba for the District Track Meet this past week. They represented the school and the town very well. Here are the results. Come hear the classic tale of The Hare and the Tortoise on Monday, April 8. Helen Ward’s version retells the famous race between the boastful rabbit and the persevering tortoise. In March, kids painted shamrocks, read about “not-a-boxes” and learned a little about honeybees.  One week kids created bumble bee puppets they could use to race to find nectar, and another week they constructed from boxes cars, fire trucks, a dump truck, and a building on fire. Micah Walker, County Extension Agent for Mason County has announced the deadline to purchase validation tags for Steers and Heifers going to major shows. Validation tags for sheep/goats or swine for State Fair also need to be ordered. The deadline to order is Tuesday, April 16 and each tag costs $15.00.
Jesse Throws Shutout As Mason Cowgirls Varsity Defeat Eldorado Jesse Armstrong threw a gem on Tuesday for Mason Cowgirls, allowing zero runs and besting Eldorado by a score of 13-0. Mason Cowgirls got on the board in the first inning when an error scored one run. Mason Cowgirls put up five runs in the seventh inning.
Our Mason Junior High Cowgirls competed in the Harper Longhorn Relays on Thursday, March 21. Our 7th and 8th grade girls teams competed well winning the meet in their respective divisions. Our Mason Cowgirls competed in the Brady HOT Relays on Thursday, March 28. Unfortunately we were only able to compete in running events through the 4x200m relay because of inclement weather, but our Varsity team finished in 1st place through the events completed.
