Last week the punchers traveled to harper to take on the Longhorns. Harper jumped out first to an early 8-0 lead but the Punchers settled in and took control of the game. Once the scoring started the Punchers never looked back. The final score was 52-8, pushing the overall record to 7-0.
7th grade vs. Eldorado The seventh grade Punchers played a hard fought game and came back from a 6-0 deficit at halftime to win 12-6 over Eldorado. We started out slow in the first half giving up a score but came out playing hard in the second half and put up two scores for the win. Scoring for the seventh grade were 2 passes from Kalen Langehennig to Michael Segura. 8th grade vs.
Mason ISD is accepting nominations for the Gifted and Talented program. All nominations are due by 3:30 p.m. this Friday, October 23, 2020. If you would like to nominate your child for the Gifted and Talented program, please go to Mason Elementary/Junior High for the necessary paperwork. The Fall Career Development Event Judging contest was held in Blanco this past Thursday, October 15. Twenty FFA members competed in Land, Range, Homesite, and Range Plant ID. The Range and Plant ID teams both brought home banners. The range team of Karen Galaviz, Mariah Avalos, Esme Lugo, and Kim Suarez, and Lee Collins narrowly missed qualifying for state by only 67 points.
The 2020 Mason High School girls’ varsity cross country squad continued a stellar season on Monday, Oct. 19 when the Cowgirls took part in the District 29-2A cross country meet held at San Saba River Golf Course in San Saba. With a great team effort, the Cowgirls did just enough as Mason’s 50 points edged the host Lady Dillos of San Saba High School’s 54 points to win the district meet as both schools qualified for the upcoming regional meet with state championship aspirations. For the first time in a month, the Mason High School varsity football team played at the Puncherdome and celebrated Homecoming with a dominant 67-0 victory over Harper High School. After the Punchers deferred the kickoff, the visiting Longhorns would get the ball first and go on a drive led by Harper quarterback Braden Strickland and running back Keegan Iturizza that ate up a decent amount of time. 7th grade vs. Harper The seventh grade Punchers played a well executed game against Harper as they came away with another victory, 20-6. Both offense and defense played well and were much improved from last week. Scoring for the seventh grade were Carsten Hays, Ray Row and Kalen Langehennig with rushing touchdowns and Fisher Bradley with a 2 point conversion run.

Mason High School varsity football is now on a winning streak as the Punchers improved to 2-4 on Friday, Oct. 2 with a dominant 48-7 victory on the road against the Center Point High School Pirates in the district opener for both teams.
