After a grand jury handed down five felony indictments against a man accused of setting fire to the Mason County Courthouse in February, the county will have to set aside hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay for expenses related to the jury trial against him. Nicholas Jarret Miller, 42, was booked into the McCulloch County Jail on April 28, where he was being held on Tuesday for Mason County on bonds totaling $1.7 million.
Mason’s 56th Annual Rodeo is just a few days away from its much-anticipated re-introduction after last year’s delay due to health restrictions. However, nothing is slowing down the momentum and growing excitement for this year’s event. Kicking off the rodeo will be a colorful entry-filled parade and then it’s on to the Ft.

The Public Water System of the City of Mason has reached a Critical Level condition. We are about to tie-in our new HMO Water System at Well 1 and all of our storage tanks. This tie-in will take down two of our storage tanks for at least 1 to 2 weeks.
District 53 Representative Andrew Murr visited Mason on June 18, 2021. Representative Murr was instrumental in securing $6,000,000 in new funding to help rebuild the Mason County Courthouse. In his personal research Murr said this was the first time in about two decades that the state has give money to a county, outside of grant money, for their courthouse. In May of 2001, Pattie was elected Commissioner of District 1.
Despite its popularity with residents, including some city workers who would stock up on water there, the City of Mason’s water station on McKinley Street will not be flowing soon. The water station closed due to COVID-19.
