The 2021 Mason County Livestock Show & Expo (MCLSE) is just a few short weeks away – January 6-8 at the Fort Mason Park Community Building. We hope you can join us and help show your support for the youth of Mason County! This year’s show is dedicated to the Mason ISD faculty, staff and administration.
We’re working diligently to provide every opportunity for these hard-working youth to compete and be rewarded for their efforts.
The late Bill Brollier (Bop) had a front row seat in Cowboy Stadium Thursday night to watch grandson, Caden Lowell Martin and the Jim Ned Indians in State Football Finals. Jim Ned defeated Hallettsville by two points in a thrilling overtime game.
Mason Community Kitchen concluded its ninth year of operation Saturday, preparing 185 containers of chicken and green chile posole for distribution through the food pantry, the local schools, and the senior center. During 2020, the organization was grateful to receive a large grant from Riata Service Organization, as well as generous contributions from 30 local individuals and businesses.
The students and faculty at Mason High School have been participating in Blue Ribbon Service Day for a decade, and we were not about to allow the pandemic to stop us from keeping to our wonderful tradition of working to make our community look it’s best. The students and faculty members were masked up, just like we are at school, to avoid spreading germs.
We invite you to support “Operation Christmas Greeting”; Mason County’s annual fundraiser for the EMS Association. For new participants, it works like this: A donation is made to the “Greeting” fund and your name is listed on a full page Greeting Card that appears in the paper’s Christmas edition. Thursday, December 17th, is the deadline to make your donation.
“Greeting” accounts are set up at each of the three Mason banks.
Last week, the Mason County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the new ownership of KHLB. The ribbon was provided courtesy of Wildflowers, and the attendees showed up to share their well-wishes with new owner, Kaycee Ingleby. Kaycee says, "Your Hometown Station is under new ownership with long time employee, Kaycee Ingleby, taking over this fall with Star Point Broadcasting.

Mark your calendars for the 4th Annual Mason County WinterFisch, which will kick off with the WinterFisch Celebration on December 5th. The releases location will again be at the James River Crossing on Highway 2389.
WinterFisch is Mason County’s participation in the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Winter Rainbow Trout Stocking Program and is one of over 100 release site statewide.
Mason Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Heather Harrell has been named as the new Executive Director. Harrell is a Iraan, Texas native, recently moving to Mason from Alpine, Texas. She attended both Midland College and Sul Ross State University majoring in business administration. She has a background working in small business and while in Alpine worked as the Training Coordinator for the Small Business Development Center.
