By Julie Storer This week our Spring Senior Spotlight shines on four athletes who have made a significant impact on the Lady Eagle Softball program in their four years of participation.  The 2020 Varsity struggled early in the season, seemed to turn the corner with a big win in the Blanco County Invitational over San Antonio – Cornerstone Christian (18-2 in 2019), then opened district with two losses against perennial playoff contenders Blanco and Gateway Prep.
Hello graduating Senior- congrats! We are excited to produce the 2020 Graduation Feature for you and your family to celebrate your accomplishments. We understand that this is an abnormal time for the whole world that will affect one of the most special times of your life. But this is just the beginning of a very exciting journey you are about to take, whether it is to college or to the workforce.
By Julie Storer This week the Johnson City Record Courier is turning the spotlight on the members of the LBJ High School Class of 2020 whose FFA Career Development Event season ended abruptly with the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. Contests that were canceled included Houston, Hondo, San Antonio, Stephenville, and the District, Area, and State competitions.
To help assuage some measure of the disappointment experienced by members of the Class of 2020 with all the photo ops and memory-making events that have been cancelled a movement has started across the nation to "Adopt a Senior". By joining the Facebook group "Adopt a 2020 Johnson City Senior"
By Julie Storer The updated order from Governor Abbott to keep school campuses closed for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year has administrators across the State facing the new challenge of honoring their 2020 graduates without access to facilities and other conventions that have been a part of past ceremonies.

By Julie Storer The LBJ High School Wildlife team of Juniors Brinley Portie, Colin Shoemaker and Brett Sultemeier placed second last week in the Burnet High School Online Wildlife Contest - their first "virtual" contest of the season. Portie placed 2nd and Sultemeier 3rd out of 58 contestants in the individual standings.
A Marble Falls resident with dreams of a multi-sport complex incorporating fields for baseball, softball and soccer, basketball and sand volleyball courts, and fitness trails has put the plans on hold until the transition from the current COVID-19"shelter-in-place" restrictions to a more familiar schedule of social activity has begun. By Julie Storer The latest information released by the University Interscholastic League (UIL) regarding a return to play for the sports of Boys' Basketball, Soccer, Golf, Tennis and Track & Field indicates there is still a possibility of the seasons being completed with modifications if the current "stay-at-home" restrictions are released.
With a seventeen year State qualifying streak on the line – the last 12 in the Top Ten – the FFA Wildlife Identification Team from LBJ High School will have extra time to practice due to the cancellation of the season after just two invitational contests. FFA Advisors were notified last week that the State Contest which had previously been put on hold indefinitely had also been cancelled.
