Melba Laverne Miller Cowsert passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020.
Born to Jack and Vera Miller on Oct. 27, 1920 in Joshua, she grew up in Burleson with her sister Jackie (Jacqueline), brother Buddy (Whit) and lifelong friend Genevieve Harris. At an early age she developed a passion for horses.
Terry Wayne Newby, 61, of Kingsland, passed away on Feb. 5, 2020 at his home in Kingsland.
Terry was born in Marlin to Patsy and James Wayne Newby on Sept. 22, 1958. He graduated high school from Rosebud Lott High School. He met the love of his life and married Lisa Newby six months later on June 5, 1982 in Port Acres.
Deana Jo Bindseil Pepper went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020. Deana Jo was born to Robert Lee Bindseil and Clara Jo Bindseil on Oct. 13, 1967 in Fredericksburg. She was the youngest of four children and resided in Blanco, where she graduated in 1986.
Deana Jo married Randall Handberry in 1988 and had three children, daughter, Ashley Handberry; son, Jordan Handberry; and daughter, Jacie Handberry.
USAF Retired Colonel John Stanley Kubin, 82, of Bulverde, went to be with our Heavenly Father unexpectedly after complications arose post-surgery performed on his heart, Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020 in San Antonio.

Phyllis Shayman Wharram-Gallent died peacefully in the early morning, Saturday, Jan. 11.
She moved to Blanco in 2003 to be near her daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Phil Evett. Prior to that she had long lived in California. She was twice widowed.
Known for musical ability, Phyllis had a beautiful soprano voice and expertise as a piano accompanist.
Julianne Ellen Russell was born on July 6, 1943 and passed on Jan. 4, 2020.
She was born in Dover, Pennsylvania, to the late Julius C. and Mary E. Gross. Julianne is preceded in death by her brother, Michael Gross.

David Lee Gibbons, age 68, passed away on Jan. 6, 2020. David was born in Austin, on Aug. 15, 1951 to Pete and May Dell Hanna. He moved to Blanco in 1961 to live with his forever family, Willard and Annabelle Gibbons, along with his brother Wayne and sister Cindy also survive him.
David is survived by his first wife, Donna Price Lux of Blanco, and their two sons, Heath Gibbons (Jeanne) of Blanco and Caleb Gibbons (Leslie) of Canyon Lake.
Leona Hohenberger Smylie was born in her childhood home in Blanco, Texas on Sept. 17, 1925 and went to be with our Lord and Savior on Jan. 5, 2020. She was raised in Blanco where she helped on the farm and rode her horse to school. As a young child she took piano lessons.
Thomas G. Mills of Johnson City, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020. He was born March 10, 1930 in Franklin, Indiana, to Homer Gilbert Mills and Alice Maude (Dragoo) Mills. Tom retired from the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant Commander after 26 years of honorable service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David Mills and Thomas Mills; brother, Glenn Emerson Mills; and sister, Nancy Louise Mills.
