Kathleen Mae Brannon Inglish died in Fort Worth, Texas, on November 4, 2019, at the age of 104, just six weeks short of her December birthday. She was one of the early woman attorneys, licensed to practice in Texas on December 15, 1936, at the age of 21. Kathleen was born in 1914 at Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Mark and Betty Brannon.
J.W. (Jake) White, age 93 of Blanco, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019 at his residence. He was born Feb. 16, 1926, in his parent’s home in Echert, Texas, which lies in Gillespie County. His parents were Lettie Palmer and Stanford White. Jake was the oldest of five children. When Jake was six, his family moved to Kerr County and was enrolled in school at Turtle Creek and finished at Tivy High School.
James Power Heard, Jr. passed away at his home, in Kendall County, near Blanco, Texas, on Nov. 7, 2019. He was 69 years old. Jim was born on Oct. 9, 1950, in New Orleans, Louisiana and later moved to Houston, where he began elementary school. His family moved to Beeville in 1959, where Jim attended St.
Shirley Mae Smith, 84, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019 in Lafayette, Colorado. Mrs. Smith was born February 20, 1935 in Comfort, Texas to Wilhelm and Florence Bierman. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband of 63 years, Val Smith. Shirley lived a full and happy life.
Arline Dorthy Hane Cathey was born in St John, Washington on July 23, 1924 and entered into eternal life on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 on “the ranch” where she and her family had celebrated many holidays, birthdays, and any other excuse to get together. She met a cute sailor, Kenneth Lee Cathey, during World War II.
Willowdyne (“Deena”) Chapple Gardner, born on May 31, 1927, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the age of 92, in San Antonio. Deena was the only child born in San Antonio to Sylvia and Kirby Chapple, was raised by her Mother in San Antonio, and graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1944.
Violet A. Waters passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 at the LBJ Medical Center in Johnson City after many years of loving care. Violet was born on July 21, 1930 to Clifford and Alberta Haynes in Round Mountain, Texas. She was very proud of her Haynes family history and the times spent on the ranch near Walnut Creek with sisters, Hazel Gatliff, and Alice Schnelle and her brother, George Haynes. Lynn Edward Hicks, beloved husband, Dad, Papaw, Uncle and friend went to be with the Lord Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019at the age of 74. Lynn was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Lynn Sr. and Goldie Hicks on Oct. 31, 1944. He was the youngest of five children and left home at the age of 17 to join the Marine Corps.
Tim E. Gilles, age 71 of San Antonio, passed away Oct. 19, 2019, in San Antonio. He was born Dec. 24, 1947, in Longview, WA, to George and Frances Gilles. Tim is survived by his loving wife, Dawn; sons, Tim Farstad, Sean (Veronica) Gilles and Adam (Kylee) Gilles; daughters, Kristin (Creighton) Rea, Kelly (Greg) Fijolek, Desi (Anthony) Hodgin and Dani Anderson; brother, Tom Gilles; sister, Adele Kruger; grandchildren, Gabby, Sean, Braxton “Little Bud,” Owen, Hannah, Lauren, Caleb, Jixo ...
Douglas Preston Higgins, 77, of Blanco, Texas, died peacefully on Oct. 8, 2019 in San Marcos, Texas after a long illness. Doug lived a very full life and loved to travel all over the world. He served in the Navy from 1960–1963. After being honorably discharged, he worked for Braniff International, Pioneer Balloon Company and started Preston Electric after his retirement.
