David Blackburn, 71, passed away at Christus Santa Rosa on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021. David was born on July 27, 1950 in Blanco, to Bill and Maxine Blackburn. David worked over 50 years perfecting his craft in the masonry field to become one of the best masons in the Hill Country.
Robert James Mayo (Bob, OG, Grandpa, Pops), age 79, of Blanco, passed away Friday, Sept. 10, 2021. He was born in San Antonio. Robert was a graduate of Harlindale High School and served in the military. He was the best cook ever. If anyone knew him, they knew him for his enchiladas.
Mass of Christian Burial for Donald ‘Don’ Ray Boumans was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 4, in the St. Martins Catholic Church, 1815 St. Martins Street, Lecompte, Louisiana with Father Marc Noel officiating. Don, 25, of Blanco, entered eternal rest on Saturday, Aug. 28, in Blanco. He was born Sept.
Gary Wayne Pittman, formerly of Blanco, was returned to our Lord and Savior on Aug. 7, 2021. He is preceded in death by his father, Russell Pittman. He leaves behind his wife of 22 years, Larissa Pittman; his daughter, Brittany Lentz and her husband Christopher; his mother, Dorothy M. Pittman; his sister, Debbie Holder and husband Perry; his niece, Mindy Lurker and her husband Ryan; his, nephew Tyler Holder;, his mother and father-in-law, James and Sylvana Collins; as well as many cousins a ...
Tommie was born December 8, 1952 to Tommie Ross Turner Sr and Betsy Robinson Turner. He grew up in what used to be the “small” town of Frisco, on a farm. He attended Texas A&M on a rodeo scholarship, returning to his farming and ranching family life after a serious bull riding accident. Several years later, he became a successful entrepreneur, building a large advertising firm in Dallas.
Peggy Jean Moore Sparks was born in San Antonio on March 19, 1930. Peggy died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, at Sedro Memory Care in Georgetown. She is survived by her brother, Roger Keith Moore of Blanco; her children, James Clifton Sparks and wife Lynda of Bastrop, Lucy Ellen Sparks Neyens and husband Neil of Blanco, Mary Alice Sparks Davis and husband Mike of Burnet, and Dr.
Johnny Gipson Adams Jr. passed away on July 30, 2021 at the age of 80 in Blanco. He was born Dec. 7, 1940 to Johnny Gipson Adams Sr. and Emma Maxine Rouse in San Antonio. He lived on a working ranch in Medina/Bandera during his early years, learning to ride horses and take care of animals before he moved to San Antonio with his mother.
Carol Kay Granberg, age 86, passed away peacefully Monday, July 12, 2021 in Fredericksburg. A long time resident of both San Antonio and Blanco, she was born December 8, 1934 in San Antonio to Woodie H. (Sr.) and Marguerite Alexander. Carol was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Gary Michael Granberg. She is survived by her son Bruce Michael Granberg. In connection with Carol’s wishes, private interment will take place on a date and time to be determined.
Dolores Hendrix Steffens Bevers of Blanco passed away in Fredericksburg on Sunday, July 18, 2021. Dolores was born Aug. 4, 1932 in Houston, to Mervin Brisco Hendrix and Mildred Pauline (Wamsley) Hendrix. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ray Steffens. Dolores is survived by her son, Bobby DeWayne Steffens; sister, Charlotte Byus and husband Rob; two nieces, Dianne Hendricks and husband Chris, and Pauline Rene Turner and husband Jason “Oscar.” She is also surviv ...
Dennis Morris Smith, loving husband, father, Papa and friend, passed away July 9, 2021 at his family ranch just west of Blanco. Dennis was born Aug. 21, 1951 in the Historic Original Blanco County Courthouse, which later became a hospital for a number of years. His family originally settled in the Blanco area in 1872 when his ancestors, Nimrod and Sephronia Smith traveled on a covered wagon from Ashley, Illinois. Dennis grew up in Blanco and graduated from Blanco High School, Class of 1969.
