The Tejas Art Club is a local art club that meets once a week every Thursday at the Buggy Barn on 281. Currently the club meets at Bean and Biscuit every third Thursday of the month.
The club meets from 12:30 to 2:30 in the afternoon. New artists are welcome, or anyone who has an interest in learning art is welcome to join.
Club dues are $25 per year.

Water Tree Hill Country is owned by Terri Germany, and Michael Denton.
Terri is a nurse and has been so for over thirty years, many of those working in Hospice. Michael is a Licensed Master Electrician since 1980, and in the trade for over 50 years.
Terri is originally from Lake Jackson, and received her nursing Degree from Brazosport College.
The Blanco Chamber of Commerce is the newest recipient of artwork from the John Hamilton Legacy Collection. The Blanco Chamber Board of Directors gratefully received “Matin XIII: Fields” to hang in their office in the Old Blanco County Courthouse. This Hamilton is a 19” X 28” oil on linen that was painted circa 1986.
Blanco County Community Choir announces rehearsals for the annual Christmas concerts. Rehearsals are 4pm-6pm at First Baptist Church in Blanco starting Sunday, September 10. The concerts will be Friday, December 1 at Community Church of the Hills in Johnson City and Sunday, December 3 at First Baptist in Blanco. The choir always welcomes new singers.

Bill Ryman is the featured Artist of the Month. Mr Ryman is a member of the Tejas Art Club and specializes in oil painting. Although Mr Ryman turned 90 on his last birthday, he attends all the Tejas Art Club activities. After having served as a paratrooper in the Army, Mr Ryman worked as a draftsman for Gulf Oil in Houston.
It’s a celebration one century in the making as the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles introduces a specialty license plate commemorating the 100th anniversary of license plates in the state.
The new 100-Year Plate will be available to order for only one year beginning Sept. 1, 2017. Texans who order this historic plate will pay $30 per year and be able to renew it annually.

On Saturday, August 19, The Blanco Lions Club will sponsor “Stuff the Bus” from 9am-2pm This a community wide effort to help those kids in need of school supplies.
Jim Stanley, Texas Master Naturalist and author, has published his third book, Hill Country Ecology: Essays on Plants, Animals, Water and Land Management.
For the last 7 years Stanley has written the Hill Country Naturalist column for the Kerrville Daily Times, and for the last 10 months. For this book, he has selected a little over 200 of the 350 or so columns, collected them into 8 major sections and 25 subsections by topic, and edited a few as necessary.
