 A crew from Blanco Boy Scout troop 497 just returned from Northern Tier.  A Scouting High Adventure experience.  Five days of Canoeing in the Boundary Waters wilderness of Northern Minnesota and a little of Canada.  The time was spent canoeing, over 50 miles, doing 25 portages, and swimming, fishing and having some fun to go with it.  An experience we will all remember.
RIBBON CUTTING: Rosemary’s Heirloom Creations celebrates their opening with a Ribbon Cutting. So, who is Rosemary? It translates to ‘Romero’ in the Spanish dictionary. “Heirloom Creations is about sharing my God given talent and passion for quilting with others.” Jerry and Pat Hendricks have graciously provided me with a place to make this happen.
Chi Omega Fraternity alumnae in Blanco, Burnet, and Llano counties recently formed a new alumnae group, Highland Lakes Chi Omega Alumnae. We will be meeting together on a regular basis for fun and friendship. The most recent event was held at the home of Jean Anderson in Horseshoe Bay where everyone enjoyed a wonderful dinner and the lovely view of Lake LBJ from her spacious deck. Veteran Services is dedicated to improving the lives of our Veterans and their families from all branches of service, and no matter the discharge status. They serve within a 19 county area in the Texas Hill Country which includes Blanco County, wanting to ensure that all service members, and Veterans, are made aware of the resources available to support and care for them, and their families. Blanco and its citizens have been blessed to have many spring fed creeks and the Blanco River. Like our structures and landscaping, these creeks and the river need tender loving care which is well known as “TLC”, from the citizens who live here and the visitors who come for the day or stay the night or longer. The Albert Community Club will hold its annual barbecue and fundraiser on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Williams Creek School Building in Albert, Texas. Gates will open at 4:00 for drinks and socializing. Musical entertainment will be by Waylon Garcia. Pork barbecue with all the trimmings will be served starting at 6:30.

Blanco Visitors Bureau To Receive Review To Increase Tourism On July 25th and 26th the City of Blanco, Texas Visitors bureau will host representatives from the Governors’ Texas Community Tourism Assessment Committee. Every year the Governors’ office for Economic development and tourism selects rural communities to be interviewed and reviewed regarding their tourism efforts, to assist those rural communities with tourism, planning and development.
Joe Garcia is starting a satellite Rotary Club in Blanco. Garcia is currently a member of The Rotary Club of Fair Oaks Ranch which is the ‘mother club’ of the satellite in Blanco. Rotary is where neighbors, friends and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders, and take action to create lasting change. The principal aims of rotary are to encourage friendship, fellowship and mutual assistance.
