Hosts Indie Film Nite Event Feb. 24
Gem of the Hills Senior Citizens Community Center (GOTH) is planning its first fund raiser since its founding in 1984. The Board of Directors and volunteers of Gem of the Hills invite the community to “Indie Film Nite” in Blanco, Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018. GOTH is partnering with the Hill Country Film Society (HCFS) to offer a slate of Film Shorts in Blanco.
The Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Group will meet on Tues., Feb. 6 from 2-3 p.m. in the second-floor conference room of the Brune Building at 808 Reuben St. in Fredericksburg. Volunteers Needed for Cemetery Clean-up
A sincere Thank You to everyone who participated in the 2017 Wreaths Across America at The Blanco Historic Cemetery. The Ceremony touched the hearts of all who attended. The Hill Country Science Mill will host a family-friendly Snow Day Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, with real snow creating a winter wonderland full of science activities for kids of all ages in the Texas Hill Country. The science and art park will be transformed by 20 tons of snow. Launch snowballs with a giant catapult.
Hill Country Memorial announces the first quarter dates for its Obstetrics Department Tour & Open House for expectant parents. The open house will be held on Thurs., Jan. 4 from 5:30-7:15 p.m. in the HCM Women’s Pavilion (1011 S. Milam St.). Light refreshments will be served. The event will continue to be held on the first Thursday of each month, including Feb.
The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) on Tuesday announced details of their annual Cattle Raisers Convention and Expo, to be held March 22-25, 2018 at the Fort Worth Convention Center. The 2018 Cattle Raisers Convention and Expo is the largest ranching event of the year in the Southwestern United States.
The Blanco Bear Den would like to thank Blanco and Johnson City for their support. The Cub Scouts worked very hard collecting food and coats for those in need. All items collected were split between all the scouts. The scouts were then able to pick the charitable organization, family or persons of their choice.

Blanco’s Planning and Zoning Commission held two public hearings at its Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2017 meeting. The first was to get citizen input on a request for rezoning 10.58 acres on Highway 1623 from Residential to Mixed Use. The second was to allow input on a request for a sign variance for the Best Western Plus on Highway 281 North.
