Mason County 4-H sent four teams totaling 14 members to San Angelo on Wednesday, January 23 to compete in the District 7 Food Challenge. This competition, that is a part of the 4-H Food and Nutrition Project, challenges teams to create a dish using only a predetermined set of ingredients.
As previously reported, Mason Post 8554 selected Angela Huffman, an 8th grader as winner of the local Patriots Pen essay contests; and, Colby Brown, a senior, was chose winner of the Voice of Democracy contest. We have been informed that Angela Huffman won 2nd place in State competition and is to receive a check in the amount of $500 from the Spring Branch Post # 8790 of Houston and a plaque is to be presented to her by VFW Dist.

The Mighty Mason Puncher Band is pleased to announce that 2018 College Miss Majorette of America Adaline Bebo will be in Mason to train future twirlers and flags on Saturday, February 9th. A former Baylor Golden Girl and 2018 College Miss Majorette of America, Ms. Bebo is also the reigning Miss Dallas.

Puncher College Week began on Monday morning with surprise guest: PFC Emanuel Martinez of the United States Marine Corps! PFC Martinez graduated at the top of his class and has already received his first promotion. PFC Martinez gave a talk about his experiences as a Marine and answered questions posed by students and faculty members.
Three Mason High School students--Megan Canfield, Lauren Olson, and Lizzy White-- competed at the UIL State Congressional Debate Meet on January 8-9, and one of those students, Megan Canfield, earned a bronze medal for placing third in the competition.
UIL Congress is an event that is comprised of two days of debate, with students following parliamentary procedure to debate on proposed bills.
The football banquet will be held at the community building on January 31st at 6:00 p.m.
We will recognize the varsity and junior varsity accomplishments as well as recognize the cheerleaders and trainers. Guest speaker for the banquet will be former Texas Tech quarterback, Cody Hodges.
Puncher Club will be providing the meal and we hope that you can make plans to attend.
