The Mason High School girls’ and boys’ varsity cross country teams competed on Wednesday, Sept. 1 in the second meet of the 2021 season at the Fredericksburg Invitational, held at Oak Crest Park.
The Cowgirls varsity squad did very well in their two-mile race as Mason placed first as a team with 35 points in the small school 1A/2A division.
The Mason High School varsity football team started its 2021 season in a big way on Friday, Aug. 27 with an impressive 34-13 victory on the road against Comanche High School.

Mason Independent School District students returned to their campuses last week as the district sees an increase in enrollment compared to last school year.
“By the end of the first day of classes, we had a total of 732 students enrolled,” said MISD Superintendent Stan Whittle, on Aug. 19. “Enrollment numbers are up by 17 students from where we ended the school year last year and we’re anticipating that number to increase slightly in the coming days.”

The Mason High School varsity football team was in action on Thursday, Aug. 19 for a home scrimmage at the Puncherdome vs. Blanco High School. Both the Punchers and visiting Panthers got their players plenty of valuable reps on offense and defense in anticipation of the regular season opening this week.
Mason’s offense was able to sustain drives both on the ground and through the air.

The Mason High School varsity football team will officially get off to its first live-action competition of 2021 against other schools on Friday, Aug. 13 as the Punchers travel to nearby Llano High School for a preseason scrimmage against the Jackets.
There will be position battles aplenty on display for Friday night as the Punchers will look to develop their young roster on both sides of the ball versus a very talented Llano team.
