The Sonora Broncos welcomed the Mason Punchers on Friday night, and they were ready to give the Mason boys a night of great football.
Sonora took the opening kickoff; but, even though they didn't lose yardage, they couldn't quite push through the Puncher defense to even come close to scoring. The Punchers took over deep in their own territory; and the Broncos went toe to toe with Mason, allowing them very little yardage.
Last week the Punchers had their second home game in a row as the Sonora Broncos came to town.
Mason started off right where they let off last week and the offense was firing on all cylinders and the defense was flying around to the ball. The Punchers jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead with the Broncos answering with a score of their own.
From there the Punchers took control of the game scoring two more times making the halftime score 19-8.
7th grade
First game jitters went out the window as the 7th grade Punchers started the season against the Sonora Broncos. It was a hard fought game that literally came down to the wire with the score being tied at 20 as the final horn blew.
Everybody played hard as we saw lots of good things out of this 7th grade bunch of boys.
For their second outing of the 2019 football season, the Mason Punchers, traveled to Johnson City on Friday night to meet up with the LBJ Eagles.
After a tough beginning last week, the Mason boys showed their fans that they had picked themselves up, dusted themselves off and that they were ready to play.
Though the game began with Mason kicking off to Johnson City, the Eagles had difficulty doing anything constructive with the ball.
Last week, the Purple team had their first home game of the year as the Johnson City Eagles came to town.
The Punchers started off really strong, jumping out to an early 14 point lead after the first quarter.
It didn’t slow down in the second as the Punchers scored 2 more times making it a 27-0.
