Summer is ending and here we go…back to school! As we start our 35th year here at GCS,we move forward faithfully and without a spirit of fear. Registration for Fall 2020 courses with Central Texas College in Fredericksburg is open now through August 21. Though most every other Roundup event was canceled, the Alpha Beta Psi Sorority moved ahead with the Roundup Queen contest. The Texas Department of State Health Services in Brady will be offering immunizations for children entering/returning to school. DSHS offers immunizations to children who are uninsured, underinsured, have Medicaid, or are American Native or Alaskan Native. Due to the DSHS coronavirus response, they are working modified schedules and will provide the immunizations on Wednesdays BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
The Texas FFA Convention, annually held the first week after the July 4, will continue as planned. However, this year’s event will be held virtually due to COVID-19. FFA members from Mason are encouraged to log on to the convention website and be a part of the continued leadership efforts of our state officer team.
“Imagine Your Story” with Summer Reading at Mason County M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library! Summer Reading will officially begin next week. From July 6 to August 14, kids in grades K to 5 can “Read for a Treat” and earn a free ice cream cone at Dairy Queen. “Read for a Treat” was made possible this year thanks to the generosity of Mason Bank.

The Mason Tennis Association regretfully but respectfully announces the cancellation of this year’s Mason Dr. Pepper Open set for the 3rd weekend in July. We did not come to this decision lightly. We so wanted to showcase the many improvements to our tennis facility to our competitors who come from all across the state.
Come celebrate social distancing with your friends at the 11th annual Melvin Burns Scholarship Golf Tournament on June 13th and 14th at the Comanche Creek Golf Course. It is a 2-day, 2-man, low ball tournament (Saturday/Sunday). And, a 1-day, 3-man scramble tournament on Saturday. Entry fee for the 2-day is $100 per person.
