This is for the little girl who was waiting for the Easter egg hunt to start in Mason, Texas, last spring. I was sitting on the steps of the courthouse, expecting my granddaughters. It was a lovely day, with lots of colorful eggs scattered on the grounds. The little girl was with a group of adults and other kids, family I supposed.
The last days of November brought several visitors to the Mason County Nutrition Program. Last week, the wonderful ladies from the Riata organization came by to deliver a wonderful donation of $2,000 to the Program. We are very thankful for their generosity and support. On Wednesday, November 28th, Hill Country Preferred Senior Care hosted a sweet treat of ice cream for our guests.
Mason's victory over Brazos on Friday night sets up a classic rematch for the Punchers against long-time rival, Refugio, this coming Friday. The game against Brazos, the Area game, saw the Punchers in control of the action on the field for all four quarters. The Mason defense continued to dominate their game, holding the Cougars to only 14 points for the night. Mason scored early in the first quarter on a run by Klay Klaerner.

It’s the job of first responders to rush into danger, a calling if you will, rather than a job. It takes a special kind of soul to pursue this calling and so it’s all the more deeply felt when we loose a fellow responder. Mason lost one of their own in Koby Smith, not rushing into danger, just trying to get home late one night.
Storytime is held Mondays at 10:30 am in the Kid’s Zone of the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library. Come for holiday stories and crafts in the month of December. On Monday we’ll be reading Jerry Palotta’s Who Will Drive My Sleigh Tonight. Just how and why did Santa select the perfect animal—the reindeer?
