Over the last year, many residents of Mason, as well as some residents of the surrounding communities, have observed the progress of the new construction of our 45 apartment homes occurring on the east side of town. We are pleased to announce that construction is now complete and we are accepting applications for new residents!
The Family and Community Services class of Mason High School organized “Punchers Support Our Troops”, a drive to raise supplies for troops deployed abroad. The drive was spearheaded by Senior Pablo Lopez and successful in great part due to freshman Nicholas Rodriguez who took our plight to social media. In true Mason fashion, the community rallied around the drive and along with the faculty and students helped us raise over 300 items.
On Wednesday, December 19th... -Pep Rally 8:05 a.m. in the high school gym -The football team will be leaving school around 8:45 a.m. and will make a loop around the square on their way out of town. Come out and give the team a Big Puncher send off! -Cheerleaders will be volunteering to decorate car windows from 8:45 - 9:45 a.m.
The San Augustine Wolves were an unknown quantity for the Mason Punchers. Our teams are more accustomed to meeting up on the field with teams from west Texas or the panhandle, so the east Texas team had fans a bit apprehensive. But, Coach Kade Burns, along with his incredible coaches and players, treated San Augustine just like all the other teams they've met up with in the 2018 season. The City of Mason will be closed Thursday December 20th, Monday and Tuesday December 24th and 25th for the Christmas Holidays. Trash trucks will pick up as scheduled: Thursday the 20th (City facilities Closed) will be pick up Friday 21st. Monday the 24th will be on Wednesday the 26th Tuesday the 25th (City facilities closed) will be on Thursday the 27th Landfill and Recycle operations open on Saturday December 22nd. Trash pickup will resume back on schedule Wednesday December 26th ...
The Mason Punchers know that, throughout the season, they're going to meet up with opponents with whom they have a long and complicated history. None of those histories are as complicated as with the Refugio Bobcats. One year ago, the Bobcats defeated the Punchers in the Alamodome, ending Mason's quest for another state title.
This Friday, Mason will meet up with the San Augustine Wolves. This east Texas team has a 12-2 record, and will be an unknown quantity for the Punchers, as we've had little exposure to their playing. The game is scheduled for Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Waco I.S.D.
The essays are in and our judging team has selected winners of the Jr. Hi Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest and the Voice of Democracy contest for high school. We received 11 entries and our judges decided that each entry was a winner as well and received $50 and the two winners received $200 each for their efforts and writing skills. The winner of the Patriot’s Pen contest was an 8th grader by the name of Karli Bauer and the high school entry was written by a Puncher whose name is Zach Nolan ...
River of Life Church will be delivering Christmas day meals to those who might otherwise be alone or shut-in on Christmas day. If you are aware of someone who may be alone and in need of some Christmas day cheer, we would love to help! Please contact the River of Life Church office at 325-347-9497 to help us identify those whom this outreach might benefit or to let us know if you are interested in helping us in some way with this outreach.
