Dear Editor, Two weekends ago, we witnessed domestic terrorism and a President who tolerates violence by his supporters against American citizens. In fact he wants to ‘study it.’ For those who support him “war is peace, freedom is slavery. And ignorance is strength.” Show no support. If you are related to an honorable Confederate soldier whom you want to honor in return, establish or contribute to a scholarship or museum in their name or put flowers on their memorial.
Dear Editor, I am the owner of Heart of Hope Counseling and Mediation PLLC. I opened my practice in Llano, in 2010. I was working in Marble Falls, with many clients making the drive from Llano weekly. I worked with Bebe Piatt, who was employed as the Juvenile Probation Officer at the time, on several cases.
I would like to address the article in last week’s paper concerning the “depopulation” of the Llano county jail. First, only in the last two weeks did I know the term “depopulation” existed. As to my current understanding of the term it would mean shutting down jail operation, firing all jail personnel, transfer all prisoners to Burnet County Jail, transport people arrested in Llano county to Burnet for incarceration, which includes all arrest made by the City of Llano, Sunrise Beac ...
You may have received emails recently regarding the Llano County Jail.  The events precipitating that email was a workshop wherein the commissioners were discussing various ways to reduce our current requested expenditures of over $15.5 million in line with our revenues of $14 million. Here, I want to update Llano County citizens on the status of those discussions and plans for the FY 2018 budget. Commissioner Peter Jones did excellent research regarding possible solutions to the extraord ...
No one seems to really care. I keep writing these semi-brilliant commentaries, and no one listens. In Denver, July 21, Pittsburgh batters were hit four times by Colorado pitchers. I know some of the pitches “got away,” but there must be harsher penalties than a two-four-game suspension. Amazingly, the guys in the dugout stayed there.
Dear Editor, Normally I wouldn’t do this, but at this time feel a need to clarify some things. Recently my husband was taken from me. So for me this is a very sad time. However, it’s because of my husband that I do this. To begin with my husband is Jerrell Sagebiel. For those of you who have not met me, don’t judge me.
Dear Editor, A lot of people have not got the news that I think is important to all of us protein consumers. In March of this year, Brazilian investigators uncovered Brazilian meatpackers selling and delivering spoiled and rotten meat, adding cardboard and A acid to mask the product. One of the Brazilian meatpackers is the United States’ number two beef meatpacker, known as JBS.
Dear Editor, The deceased in the Castell Methodist Church Cemetery would like to thank Michael and Tina Glenn for making their laid to rest place respectable and with dignity again. Please give them a call at 325-423-3249 and let them know how good it looks now. They had to endure extreme heat, thousands of red ants and fire ants, and someone telling them to stop work and that they would not be paid a dime.
Dear Editor, It is so sad that Congress operates in such a sneaky way. Pay attention because HR 10 115th Congress (2017-2018) [the so called “Financial Choice Act] about to be voted on by your Congressman. HR 10 has buried deep on page 403 a provision that prevents the regulation of “Payday loans.” ( You know, those amoral, and greedy companies that pray on the poor with loans that grow exponentially.
Dear Editor, We appreciate The Llano News for the picture which was included last week which showed the Llano County Special Opportunity Center receiving a donation from St. James Lutheran Church with Reverend Ralph Reitmeyer presenting the check. We appreciate your donation to our non-profit 501(c)3 organization. The LCSOC would like to remind the citizens of Llano we appreciate your support and also with the Llano Recycling Opportunities.
