Dear Editor, I greatly appreciate Mary and the employees at Dollar General for taking time out of their busy afternoon to help a confused little old lady who was trying to convert her old Tracfone to her new one. Mary spent over an hour putting up with me when she probably needed to be doing other things. Sylvia Rhoades
Dear Editor, Thank you Mr. Spence for your Letter to the Editor about the Historic Llano Red Top Jail and Mr. Frank Hamer, the Texas Ranger responsible for bringing down Bonnie and Clyde. We are still in the process of restoring the Llano Red Top Jail. We would love for Mr.
Dear Editor, The story going around Llano is that Ingram Readymix wants to build a concrete mixing plant in Llano on Angle Street just north from the motel. It seems they have already applied to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for a permit. Their application states that the site is 800 feet west on State Highway 29 from Angle Street on the north side of the highway. This plant would emit cement dust with a north wind right over our house.
Dear Editor, If you are opposed, as I am, to an application to put in a concrete plant on the land next to the Best Western Motel, Hwy 29 West, please write a letter to: Office of Chief Clerk TCEQ P.O. Box 130-87 Austin, Texas 78711-3087 State your opposition in the letter and request a hearing about this. Also let them know citizens in Llano were not notified but a notice was posted in the Kingsland Library. A concrete plant just outside the city limits of Llano would be a disaster, not only a ...
Dear Editor, You are welcome to attend your local Masonic Lodge “Open House,” 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 23. All Masonic Lodges in the State of Texas will, for the first time ever, conduct an “Open House” to acquaint you with our Lodges, our philosophy, our many charities and community service activities. I invite you to stop by for a few minutes, sometime between 2-4 p.m., to visit with our members and learn about the lodge that directly supports your community.
Dear Editor, Recently I was transported by EMS to the Llano Hospital which resulted in an overnight stay. The care I received from EMS, the emergency room staff, the nursing staff, the x-ray technician and Dr. David Hoerster was excellent. We need the hospital to be more than just an emergency stop.
Dear Editor, I went to the Llano track at the middle school to do my usual walking. To my disappointment there was a sign that said the track was closed to the public due to vandals. I have a couple of thoughts on this sign. First, it is so terribly disappointing to see this happen in Llano.
Dear Editor, The Llano Recycling Opportunities greatly appreciates all of the wonderful citizens of Llano County who have sent in their donations for the new baler. The LRO has received $5,600 so far and has a new baler on order so that we may continue to collect and process recyclables. The LRO is still in need of raising funds for the purchase of the baler. We ask for you help to help our non-profit reach this goal.
Dear Editor, I appreciate the Llano County Master Gardeners, Texas A&M Agrilife Extension, Llano Chamber Of Commerce, and all the supporters and volunteers who created such a wonderful spot at the Depot Garden. This is a great asset to Llano. Monarch waystations are being planted along the Hwy. 35 corridor. Llano and Fredericksburg are a great start to a Hwy.
Dear Editor, I recently moved to Llano County and visit Llano frequently to be with life-long friends. I always go by the “old jail” and marvel at this old building. I always think of Mr. Frank Hamer, the most famous Texas Ranger that ever served Texas. I can’t help but wonder why the people of Llano have not claimed him as one of their own?
