Janice Lucas Mckee was born in Llano on July 27, 1949 to John W. and Olga Lucas. She passed away in Bosier City, La., on Aug. 13, 2017. She is survived by one daughter, Tanya Crawford and husband Jay of Buchanan Dam. One son, Michael W. Jones and Roxanne Latronica of Cherokee.
Jeffrey Leon Hawkins, 52, of Haskell, perished Aug. 29, 2017. Jeff was born Jan. 5, 1965 in Odessa. His final days where spent happily with friends and family at his cabin on Lake Stamford. Jeff was an avid fisherman and capable builder. His dedication to his work and hobbies were an inspiration to all. Jeff’s unexpected death left an especially sharp sting in those who knew and loved him.
Dennis Peter Ahlert of Tow passed away on Sept. 1, 2017 at the age of 80 years. He was born to Peter and Ruth Bertot, on September 9, 1936 in Highland, Illinois. Growing up, he played High School football and went onto college at Marquette University. There he earned Big 10 All-American honors and wanted to continue with a career in pro football.
Walter Earl Post, 67, of Marble Falls, passed away Aug. 31, 2017. He was born to Walter Earl and Wilma Margaret (Larigan) Post on June 20, 1950 in Houston. Mr. Post was a retired electrical lineman and was a past state arm wrestling champion. In his earlier days, he enjoyed weightlifting with his friend, mentor, boss and neighbor, Keith Thurman who, has always remained one of his best friends.
Oscar Morales Sr., 76 of Llano, passed away on Sept. 3, 2017. He was born to Leocadio and Rafaela (Deleon) Morales on March 4, 1941 in Sabinas Coah, Mexico. Oscar moved his wife and children to Llano County in 1967. He fell in love with Llano after visiting friends and found employment soon after as a ranch hand to the late James and Emmie Rusche.
Janice Long Hopson of Mobile, Ala., passed away August 22, 2017. She was the daughter of lifelong Llano residents Jim and Janie Oestreich. She was born June 4, 1958 and graduated from Llano High School. She was always quick with a smile that could light up room. She loved people and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need.
Anna Mae Henderson passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017 in Pflugerville, at the age of 82. She was born Feb. 12, 1935 in Brady, to Ben Honig and Alta (Ake). Anna was raised in Llano. She and her husband married in 1954 then moved to Austin where she lived from 1954 to 1983. Anna worked as the office manager at Beall’s department store in Austin for 22 years, then returned to Llano and worked for the Llano County Tax office then later was elected Tax Assessor Collector.
Charlotte Ann Blessing went to be with the Lord on Aug. 18, 2017. She was born in Dallas on Feb. 6, 1937 to her parents, Harmon and Joyce Allen. She is survived by her husband Bill Blessing, three sisters and one brother, two children, two grandchildren, one great grand-daughter and dozens of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Jeramy Lee Russell, 40, passed away Aug. 2, 2017 in Tekamah, Nebraska, of a brain aneurysm. Jeramy was born Oct. 31, 1976 in Levelland. Jeramy graduated from Llano High School in May 1996. After graduating he became a bartender. He worked at Horseshoe Bay Resort from 1996 until May 2001. From there he went to Yellowstone National Park in June of 2001 and worked through the summer.
Annette Helen Grote Altgelt passed from this Earth on July 25, 2017, gathered to loved ones who went before. Annette Helen was born on Nov. 6, 1933 in San Antonio, to Raymond Grote of Castell and Annette Duepree Grote of Crockett. Annette Helen graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio.
