The Llano Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for several awards, which will be given out at its annual awards banquet at the end of the month. Nominations are being sought for the Hall of Fame, Citizen of the Year and Agricultural Producer of the year awards, plus teacher of the year awards at each Llano County campus – Llano High School, Llano Junior High, Llano Elementary School, Packsaddle Elementary School and Llano Christian Academy.

A ceremony to honor the late Texas Ranger Stan Guffey will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21. Guffey was killed 30 years ago in the line of duty while rescuing a 2-year-old kidnapping victim in Horseshoe Bay.
The Texas Ranger Association Foundation, in conjunction with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the City of Horseshoe Bay, are hosting the ceremony.

The Llano Recycling Opportunities is thankful for its new baler and appreciates everyone who donated to the effort, said Jerry Land of the LRO.
The LRO had been operating for months with just one baler after one of its two balers became unoperational earlier this year. With only one baler, operations greatly slowed, as did income coming into the center.
“With the $14,700, the new baler was purchased and it is a wonderful machine,” Land said.
