Black Friday is the day known in retail as the day to start showing a profit, the best shopping day of the year, and a day that is commonly left behind to the shops and retail stores in Llano.
After all, Llano doesn’t have the big box stores. Other than a few major chain stores, it is left to the mom and pop stores to survive the largest shopping day of the year, to make “Black Friday” the best it can be.
Ashley Torres of Llano is a good citizen and has the certificate to prove it.
Ashley is a 5-year old, 92-pound silver pit bull and a favorite visitor among residents of local senior citizen homes. Unfortunately, Ashley’s service to the community may soon come to an end due to a needed surgery.
“She just loved being around people,” said Barbara Torres, who trained Ashley and her Doberman, Ty, to be service dogs.

The Western Trappings exhibition for this year is now over, and the drawing for the winner of this one of a kind bracelet was held at 5 p.m. Saturday. An Arizona man turned himself in early Saturday morning after allegedly shooting a friend. Justin Lamb, 27, of Yuma, Ariz., entered the Stripes convenience store at the corner of Hwy. 29 and Hwy. 16 in Llano during the early morning hours Saturday and asked to use a phone to call 911, according to a Llano County Sheriff’s Office press release.
An almost month-long saga is over after a Brownwood company pulled its air quality application to build a concrete batch plant at the edge of Llano’s city limits.
Ingram Concrete, LLC, withdrew an air quality registration submitted to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, meaning the Brownwood company is no longer seeking to build a concrete batch plant just off Hwy.
The Llano Special Olympians traveled to Highland Lanes and Dart Bowling Alley in Austin to participate in the Area 13 Bowling Competition, November 4-5. Llano was well represented with eight students in every age group.
